Nanda lake is a Ramsar site located in the Indian state of Goa. It is situated in Curchorem. Covering an area of 0.42 square kilometres, [2] it is the only Ramsar wetland site in Goa. [3]

History

The lake was notified as a wetland by the Indian government on 2021 under the Wetland (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017. [3] On 3 August 2022, it was declared as a Ramsar wetland site on 2022 Ramsar Convention . [2]

Fauna

The wetland is home to red-wattled lapwing, black-headed ibis, bronze-winged jacana, brahminy kite, common kingfisher, wire-tailed swallow, intermediate egret, little cormorant and lesser whistling duck. [3]

Forest cover in Goa is diverse. Goa is India's smallest state terms of area and the fourth smallest in terms of population. Goa is located on the west coast of India in the region known as the Konkan Forest cover in Goa stands at 1,424 km², most of which is owned by the government. Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in Myanmar's Bago Division, covering an area of 103.6 km2 (40.0 sq mi). It was established in 1988 and gained the status of an Important Bird Area in 2003.

Kaludiya Pokuna Archeological Forest Site is a forest with archeological remains in Kandalama, in the Dry Zone of Sri Lanka. The site has been handed over to the Girls' High School, Kandy in accordance with the "Urumaya Thani Nokaramu" program organized by the Department of Archeology. For the first time in Sri Lanka, a school was given custody of an archeological site.
