Valinokkam is a village in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. Because it is near the seashore, Valinokkam is famous for salt production. The Tamil Nadu Salt corporation started Salt production from Valinokkam in the year 1974. [1] It is also well known for the shrine of Imraan Ummayah Al Badawiyyah shaheed and Sulthan Abdul Qadir Popularly called as Peer Muhammad, Noor Muhammad waliyullah Dargah by the local people. [2]

The village is situated on a peninsula. This village is peaceful and cover of nature in Gulf of Mannar. Hence, it played an essential role in the ancient wars which occurred in the region. An aesthetically pleasing Masjid is said to have been constructed by Jinns, which was originally constructed by Vavwali Naina Mohamed marraicayar of kilakarai (grandfather of vallal seethakathi marraikayar) who build many stone masjids in sea shore area of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and andhra he built many masjid in cylone also which resembles by his own symbol embossed in those masjid which was very clearly shown in his tomb (old jumma masjid oldest masjid of India) in Kilakarai ;

There is also one invisible grave of Khaja Syed Sultan Habibuddin Razi who is also known as Ghaibi Sulthan who came to India to spread Islam. Its dome is 70 feet (21 m) in diameter and 20 feet (6.1 m) in height and made of a single block of stone which was brought from the Azhaga Hills. It is said that it was built by Thirumalai Nayak for his Muslim subjects.

The mosque was founded by Kazi Syed Tajuddin, a descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, who came from Yemen during 13th century and received this land from the King Kulasekara Ku(n) Pandiyan. The mosque was managed by Syed Tajuddin during his lifetime followed by his children and descendants hereditarily for more than 7 centuries till today. The Erwadi Santhanakoodu Festival is a monthlong festival held in Ervadi dargah, located in Ramanathapuram district, to commemorate the anniversary of Sulthan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed Badhusha nayagam whose grave is in Ervadi. The festival is organised as a National Integrity festival by the local Dargah Huqdhar Management Committee (D.H.M.C.), constituting the heirs of badhusha nayagam called as Mujavirs or Levvais. It is a month-long festival happening every Hijri year in the full Islamic month of Zil Qa'dah.

Melasirupothu is a village in Ramanathapuram district and Mudukulathur Taluka in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is 16 km west of Mudukulathur, 8 km east of Sikkal and 15 km east of Ervadi. It is famous for its Thinnayiramoorthi temple, and one of the most popular festivals is the Kuthirai Eduppu. In this village have Panchayt Union Middle School and Government Primary Health Centre. But, recently they boycotted the 2019 lok shaba election because of their plea for clean drinking water, road facilities and school were not met with and government did not take any initiative.

Palaiya Jumma Palli or Meen Kadai Palli is a mosque in Kilakarai, Tamil Nadu, India. Built in 628–630 AD, it is believed to be one of the oldest mosques in the world and along with Cheraman Juma Masjid in Kodungallur, Kerala and Barwada Mosque in Ghogha, Gujarat, the first mosque in India. It has an Islamic heritage of more than 1000 years. It is located in Kilakarai, an ancient port town in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu known for its Islamic culture. It was built in 628–630 AD and was re-constructed in 1036. The mosque, along with the others in the town, is one of the greatest examples of Dravidian Islam architecture.
