Village on Wheels is an Indian train introduced by the Indian Railways to cater to budget tourists, especially villagers. The trains connect the selected tourist destinations, usually with a circular schedule. They are managed by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a public-sector undertaking of the Railways. [1]

This is envisaged to be the more plebeian version of the luxurious Palace on Wheels trains.

'The train is aimed at promoting tourism and connecting one city to another' says the railways official 'the first nine-day journey will cost Rs. 4,500 inclusive of lacto-vegetarian meals and snacks'

The train has 10 coaches and can accommodate 350 passengers. [2]

Grand Chord is part of the Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line and Howrah–Allahabad–Mumbai line. It acts as a link between Sitarampur, (Asansol), and Pt. The Grand chord section is the lifeline of the country, 2nd busiest railway section of India after Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Uttar Pradesh Main Line section, on which coal, steel and other important goods are moved from Eastern section to Western and Northern sections of the country. In the down direction, the traffic consists of mostly food grains, fertilizers and empty wagons for coal loading in the Jharkhand and West Bengal coal fields. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction is a transit division and the main objective is to maintain mobility of high density traffic. The present capacity of the Grand Chord is being optimally utilized. Traversing through Chota Nagpur Plateau of Jharkhand as well as parts of the fertile Gangetic plains of Bihar, the Grand Chord covers a stretch of 450.7 km (280.1 mi). The Grand Chord is renowned for its remarkable controlling of passenger traffic, despite being burdened with freight traffic.

The line comes from Asansol-Kiul and goes towards Barauni Junction and New Barauni Junction. The Hathidah Upper - Barauni line goes through the Rajendra Setu over the river Ganga.

Gaya Junction railway station is a junction station serving the city of Gaya, the headquarters of Gaya district and Magadh Division in the Indian state of Bihar. Gaya is in the Mughalsarai railway division of the East Central Railway zone. Grand Chord rail-line that connects Howrah and New Delhi passes through Gaya. It lies between Mughalsarai Junction on the Delhi side and Dhanbad Junction on the Howrah side. It is located at 24°48′13″N84°59′57″E. It has an elevation of 117 metres (384 ft). Gaya is connected with most of the states through rail network. Very few trains do-not stop here- sealdah duranto, bhubaneswar duranto, jharkhand sampark kranti and Odisha sampark kranti. There are also two other broad-gauge train lines from Gaya, one to Patna and the other to Kiul Junction. The city has two major railway stations: Gaya Junction & Manpur Junction. Howrah - Rajendra Nagar Express is an Indian Railways Superfast train which daily runs between Howrah Junction in West Bengal and Rajendra Nagar Terminal of Bihar. It covers the 529 km of distance in 9.33 hours. It is currently being operated with 12351/12352 train numbers on a daily basis. Modern LHB coach with a MPS of 160 kmph are more comfortable. The new coaches, based on a German technology Linke Hoffman Busch, are made of stainless steel which do not turn turtle during accidents; the light-weight coaches will improve the train's speed. Bigger windows, lamps at all AC seats and sound insulation are the other facilities of this train.Howrah - Rajendra Nagar Express runs with 1 AC 1 tier coach, 2 AC 2 tier coaches,7 AC 3 tier coaches, 6 Sleeper coaches, 5 General coaches along with 2 EOG coaches. Thus, having a total of 22 LHB coach; the normal locomotive of Howrah - Rajendra Nagar Express is a WAP-7 locomotive of Gomoh/Samastipur shed. Loco in-charge for this train is WAP-7 Gomoh/Samastipur Shed.Before that it was hauled by WAP-7 Howrah Shed.Earlier was hauled by a WAP-4 Howrah Shed. Earlier It was used to run till Danapur in Patna, but it had been then terminated at Rajendra Nagar Terminal in Patna.Punctual and clean also; this along with Howrah Janshatabdi,Shalimar Duronto,Patna Garib Rath are trains from/to Patna-Kolkata.
