The Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kilkenny. The county board has its head office and main grounds at Nowlan Park and is also responsible for Kilkenny county teams in all codes at all levels. The Kilkenny branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1887.
The 2003 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 117th since its establishment in 1887. The first matches of the season were played in May 2003, and the championship ended on 14 September 2003. Kilkenny went into the 2003 championship as defending champions, having won their twenty-seventh All-Ireland title the previous year.

The 2009 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 123rd staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The draw for the 2000 fixtures took place on 8 October 2008. The championship began on 30 May 2009 and ended on 6 September 2009.

The 1964 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship Final was the first All-Ireland final and the culmination of the 1964 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship, an inter-county hurling tournament for players aged between 18 and 21 in Ireland. The match took place on 4 October 1964, at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny. The match was contested by Tipperary and Wexford, and it was refereed by Aubrey Higgins from Galway.
The 2011–12 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship was the 42nd staging of the All-Ireland hurling club championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1970. The draw for the 2011-12 fixtures took place in August 2011. The championship began on 9 October 2011 and ended on 17 March 2012. Clarinbridge were the defending champions, however, they did not qualify for the championship.
The 2005 All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship—known as the Foras na Gaeilge All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship for sponsorship reasons—was the high point of the 2005 season in the sport of camogie. The championship was won for the 21st time by Cork who defeated Tipperary by a four-point margin in the final and became part of the legendary “rebel treble” of 2005 when Cork won the senior hurling, camogie and ladies’ football titles. The attendance was 14,350.
The 2013 season was Eamon O'Shea's first year as manager of the Tipperary senior hurling team. On 25 September 2012, he succeeded Declan Ryan as manager. A panel of 26 players was announced in December 2012 to prepare for the Allianz Hurling League. In February Shane McGrath was appointed as captain for the 2013 season.
Kieran Bergin is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Killenaule and with the Tipperary senior inter-county team since 2013. Bergin is a nephew of Jack Bergin, who was a Tipperary selector when they won the All-Ireland title in 2001, he is also a first cousin of former Galway Footballer Joe Bergin. Bergin has also played with the Tipperary senior football team and was part of the panel for the 2013 McGrath Cup. Bergin went to the United States to live in 2005 and spent five years living in New York City and two years in San Francisco before returning to Ireland in 2012.
The 2014 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final, the deciding game of the 2014 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, was played on 7 September 2014 at Croke Park, Dublin. The final ended - for the third year in a row - in a draw. The replay was held on 27 September 2014.
The 2019 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 132nd staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The draw for the 2019 fixtures took place on 11 October 2018. The championship began on 11 May 2019 and concluded on 18 August 2019.
The Kilkenny county hurling team represents Kilkenny in hurling and is governed by Kilkenny GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League.
