The following lists events that happened during 1909 in Afghanistan .

In order to secure greater tranquility on the frontier, the special governor was sent to the Khost Valley with a force of cavalry and infantry. He held a durbar (Imperial Assemblage) of the tribesmen at which he read a firman from the amir, and encouraged them to cease their feuds between themselves and prevent raids into British territory. They promised obedience. A telephone system is installed in various districts in order to ensure speedy communication between the frontier and Kabul.

A plot against the life of the amir and his brother Nasrullah Khan is said to have been discovered from information given by the tutor of the heir. It was promptly suppressed by the "vigorous action" taken by the amir. But there was no public inquiry or trial, and no other information was recorded.

Dost Mohammad Khan Emir of Afghanistan

Dost Mohammad Khan was the founder of the Barakzai dynasty and one of the prominent rulers of Afghanistan during the First Anglo-Afghan War. With the decline of the Durrani dynasty, he became Emir of Afghanistan from 1823 to 1839 and then from 1843 to 1863. An ethnic Pashtun, he was the 11th son of Sardar Payendah Khan who was killed in 1799 by Zaman Shah Durrani. At the start of his rule in March 1823, the Afghans lost their former stronghold of Peshawar Valley to the Sikh Khalsa Army of Ranjit Singh at the Battle of Nowshera. The Afghan forces in the battle were supported by Azim Khan, half-brother of Dost Mohammad Khan.

Amir Khusrau Indian poet, writer, singer and scholar

Abu'l Hasan Yamīn ud-Dīn Khusrau (1325–1253), better known as Amīr Khusrau Dehlavī was a Sufi singer, poet and scholar from India. He was an iconic figure in the cultural history of the Indian subcontinent. He was a mystic and a spiritual disciple of Nizamuddin Auliya of Delhi, India. He wrote poetry primarily in Persian, but also in Hindavi. A vocabulary in verse, the Ḳhāliq Bārī, containing Arabic, Persian, and Hindavi terms is often attributed to him. Khusrau is sometimes referred to as the "voice of India" or "Parrot of India" (Tuti-e-Hind), and has been called the "father of Urdu literature."

Third Anglo-Afghan War 1919 war between Afghanistan and the UK

The Third Anglo-Afghan War, also known as the Third Afghan War, the British-Afghan war of 1919 and in Afghanistan as the War of Independence, began on 6 May 1919 when the Emirate of Afghanistan invaded British India and ended with an armistice on 8 August 1919. The war resulted in the Afghans winning back control of foreign affairs from Britain, and the British recognizing Afghanistan as an independent nation. According to British author Michael Barthorp, it was also a minor strategic victory for the British because the Durand Line was reaffirmed as the border between Afghanistan and the British Raj, and the Afghans agreed not to foment trouble on the British side. However, Afghans who were on the British side of the border did cause concerns due to revolts.

The Second Anglo-Afghan War was a military conflict fought between the British Raj and the Emirate of Afghanistan from 1878 to 1880, when the latter was ruled by Sher Ali Khan of the Barakzai dynasty, the son of former Emir Dost Mohammad Khan. The war was part of the Great Game between the British and Russian empires.

Amir Iqbal Khan is a British professional boxer, promoter and philanthropist. He is a former unified light-welterweight world champion, having held the WBA title from 2009 to 2012, and the IBF title in 2011. At regional level, he held the Commonwealth lightweight title from 2007 to 2008. He also held the WBC Silver welterweight title from 2014 to 2016, and once challenged for the WBC and Ring magazine middleweight titles in 2016.
