The 1949 Orange Bowl was a college football postseason bowl game between the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs.
After a loss early in the season to North Carolina, the Bulldogs won eight straight games en route to a Southeastern Conference championship (fifth overall) and their first Orange Bowl bid since 1942. The Longhorns finished 2nd in the Southwest Conference to SMU (who went to play in the Cotton Bowl Classic), but were invited to play in the Orange Bowl for the first time in school history.
Tom Landry rushed for 117 yards in his final game before departing for the AAFC. Johnny Rauch threw 11-of-17 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort. [1]
The Bulldogs returned to the Orange Bowl in 1960 while the Longhorns returned in 1965.

The Cotton Bowl Classic is an American college football bowl game that has been held annually in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex since January 1, 1937. The game was originally played at its namesake stadium in Dallas before moving to Cowboys Stadium in nearby Arlington in 2010. Since 2014, the game has been sponsored by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and officially known as the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic; it was previously sponsored by Mobil (1989–1995) and Southwestern Bell Corporation/SBC Communications/AT&T (1997–2014).
The 2004–05 NCAA football bowl games were a series of 32 post-season games played in December 2004 and January 2005 for Division I-A football teams and their all-stars. The post-season began with the New Orleans Bowl on December 14, 2004, and concluded on January 29, 2005, with the season-ending Senior Bowl.

The 1921 Vanderbilt Commodores football team was an American football team representing Vanderbilt University during the 1921 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. It was Dan McGugin's 17th season as head coach, and Wallace Wade's first season as assistant coach. Vanderbilt outscored its opponents 161–21 for a record of 7–0–1 and a share of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) championship. The team's leading scorer was halfback Rupert Smith and its captain was "Pink" Wade, father of future Vanderbilt star Bill Wade. The Commodores played their home games at Dudley Field.
