Raquel Rastenni Danish singer

Raquel Rastenni, born Anna Rachel Rastén, was a popular Danish singer. She was born in Copenhagen, and grew up in a little apartment in the poor central part of the city. Her Jewish parents had immigrated to Denmark from Russia at the start of the 20th century. Her father was a tailor, and her mother was a seamstress.

Eurovision Song Contest 1958 song contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 1958 was the 3rd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Hilversum, Netherlands, following Corry Brokken's win at the 1957 contest in Frankfurt-am-Main, West Germany, with the song "Net als toen". This formed the convention that the winning country of the previous year's event would host the following year. The contest was held at the AVRO Studios on Wednesday 12 March 1958, and was hosted by Hannie Lips.

Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest

Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 58 times since making its debut in 1958, missing only three contests since then. Since 1959, the Swedish entry has been chosen through an annual televised competition, known since 1967 as Melodifestivalen. At the 1997 contest, Sweden was one of the first five countries to adopt televoting. Sweden is the only country to have hosted the event in five different decades, three times in Stockholm, twice in Malmö and once in Gothenburg (1985).

"Fly on the Wings of Love" performed by the Olsen Brothers represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000. It was selected on 19 February 2000 at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2000, performed in Danish as "Smuk som et stjerneskud". Olsen Brothers went on to win that year's Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Denmark's second Eurovision win and first in thirty-seven years.

Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Danish entry was selected through Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012, a national selection organised by the Danish broadcaster DR. Soluna Samay represented Denmark with the song "Should've Known Better", which qualified from the first semi-final and went on to place 23rd in the final, scoring 21 points.

Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. The Danish entry was selected through the national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013, organised by the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR). Emmelie de Forest represented Denmark with the song "Only Teardrops", which qualified from the first semi-final of the competition and won the contest, placing 1st in the final with 281 points.

Denmark hosted and participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen after winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Only Teardrops" performed by Emmelie de Forest. The Danish entry was selected through the national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014, organised by the Danish broadcaster DR. Basim represented Denmark with the song "Cliche Love Song", which placed 9th in the final, scoring 74 points.
