Eurovision Song Contest 1963 song contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 1963 was the eighth annual Eurovision Song Contest. The contest was held in London, United Kingdom, after the British broadcaster BBC stepped in to organise the event. France had won the 1962 edition with the right to host this following one but were unable to, due to financial shortcomings.

"En gång i Stockholm" was the Swedish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, performed in Swedish by one of Scandinavia's leading jazz singers, Monica Zetterlund.

Melodifestivalen Swedish Eurovision Song Contest preselection

Melodifestivalen is an annual song competition organised by Swedish public broadcasters Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Radio (SR). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since 1958. Since 2000, the competition has been the most popular television programme in Sweden; it is also broadcast on radio and the Internet. In 2012, the semi-finals averaged 3.3 million viewers, and over an estimated four million people in Sweden watched the final, almost half of the Swedish population.

Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest

Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 58 times since making its debut in 1958, missing only three contests since then. Since 1959, the Swedish entry has been chosen through an annual televised competition, known since 1967 as Melodifestivalen. At the 1997 contest, Sweden was one of the first five countries to adopt televoting. Sweden is the only country to have hosted the event in five different decades, three times in Stockholm, twice in Malmö and once in Gothenburg (1985).

"Waarom?" ("Why") was the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, performed in Dutch by Jacques Raymond.

Melodifestivalen 2003 season of television series

Melodifestivalen 2003 was the selection for the 43rd song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 42nd time that this system of picking a song had been used. Five semi-finals had taken place to select the ten songs for the final, in Jönköping, Gothenburg, Luleå, Sundsvall and a Second Chance round in Stockholm. The final was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. The show was watched by 1,230,751 people.

Melodifestivalen 2004 was the selection for the 44th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 43rd time that this system of picking a song had been used. Five semifinals had taken place to select the ten songs for the final, in Karlstad, Gothenburg, Umeå, Malmö and a Second Chance round in Stockholm. The final was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. The winner was Lena Philipsson with "Det gör ont" who later that year came in 5th place in Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Turkey with the English-language version It Hurts.

Melodifestivalen 1963 was the selection for the sixth song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the fifth time that this system of picking a song had been used. One singer performed the song with a large orchestra and one with a smaller orchestra. 816 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was broadcast on Sveriges Radio TV but was not broadcast on radio. Monica Zetterlund performed "En gång i Stockholm" at Eurovision, and became the first and only artist to score "nul points" for Sweden.

The Moon (song) Eurovision song by Taxi

"The Moon" is a song recorded by Romanian group Taxi. It was released as a CD single in 2000 by Intercont Music in Romania, containing its Romanian language version "Luna" as a B-side. "The Moon" was written and produced solely by Teodorescu. It represented Romania in the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden, after "Luna" won the pre-selection show Selecția Națională. In Stockholm, Romania automatically qualified to the final due to their relegation in the previous year and finished in 17th place with 25 points.

Melodifestivalen, the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, began in 1959, the year after Sweden had made its debut in the Contest. It has been held almost every year since.

Sweden chose its entry for Eurovision Song Contest 1960 by the national final, Melodifestivalen 1960. The winning song, "Alla andra får varann" was performed once by Östen Warnerbring and once by Ingrid Berggren. However Sveriges Radio decided that Siw Malmkvist would represent Sweden, as she had been denied that the previous year.

In the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, Sweden was represented by Monica Zetterlund, a popular jazz singer. Her song, written by Bobbie Ericsson and Beppe Wolgers, was called "En gång i Stockholm". Carli Thornehave also sung it at the national final.

The song "When Spirits Are Calling My Name" was performed by Roger Pontare in the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest, in which Pontare represented Sweden.

"Sol och vår" is a song by Swedish singer Inger Berggren, that represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 1962, performed in Swedish. The title literally translates as "Sun and Spring", but the Swedish expression 'Att sol och våra någon', 'sun and spring'-ing somebody, means tricking a person out of money by false promises of love or marriage.

"Algo prodigioso" was the Spanish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, performed in Spanish by José Guardiola.

Spain was represented by music duo Sergio y Estíbaliz at the Eurovision Song Contest 1975, held in Stockholm, Sweden. Sergio y Estíbaliz were selected internally by Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE), the Spanish broadcaster, to represent the country at the contest in Sweden with the song "Tú volverás".

Sweden selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 entry through Lilla Melodifestivalen 2014 which consisted of eight songs. The final was held on 6 June 2014 at the Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm. Julia Kedhammar, with her song "Du är inte ensam", was chosen as the winner.

Sweden participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Kiev, Ukraine. The Swedish entry was selected through Lilla Melodifestivalen 2013 which consisted of eight songs. The final was held on 6 June 2013 at the Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm. Eliias and his song "Det är dit vi ska" was chosen as the winner.
