The 1965 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 71st staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board.
Cappamore were the defending champions.
On 24 October 1965, Patrickswell won the championship after a 2–16 to 0–04 defeat of St. Kieran's in the final. [1] It was their first ever championship title.

The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Limerick hurling.
Richard "Richie" Bennis is an Irish retired hurler who played as a centre-forward for the Limerick senior team.
Gary Kirby is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He was named in a list of the "125 greatest stars of the GAA" in 2009, in which he was described as "one of the best players never to win an All-Ireland senior medal". As a centre-forward, his playing career at club level was with Patrickswell and at inter-county level with Limerick. He was a key member of the latter team during the resurgence of the 1990s and collected two Munster titles, two National Hurling League titles and four All-Star awards.

Recognised for his exceptional skill level but remaining the ultimate team player, he is widely considered one of the best players in the current game and has often been described as a "midfield magician". He is also one of only two players to win the 'hurler of the year' award more than once, with the only other player to do so being Henry Shefflin with three wins.
