The 1972 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 78th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. [1] The championship ran from 1 October to 10 December 1972.
Claughaun entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by South Liberties in a semi-final replay. [2] [3]
The final was played on 10 December 1972 at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, between South Liberties and Patrickswell, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. South Liberties won the match by 4–08 to 1–05 to claim their fourth championship title overall and a first title in 82 years. [4] [5]
Patrickswell's Richie Bennis was the championship's top scorer with 3–10.
