Patrickswell GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Patrickswell in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling and currently holds the record for most Limerick Senior Hurling Championship wins (20).

Doon GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, founded in 1888. It is based in the village of Doon in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is part of the East Division of the Limerick GAA and has a tremendous record at underage level, but has yet to win a County Senior Hurling Championship. The club only plays hurling, but footballers in the parish play with neighbouring Oola. The manager is Austin Buckley.

O'Donovan Rossa GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Belfast, County Antrim. The club is named after Irish patriot and revolutionary Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa and one of the club founders was Joe McKelvey.

Cian Lynch is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre forward for Limerick Championship club Patrickswell, where he has held the role of captain, and the Limerick senior team. Recognised for his exceptional skill level but remaining the ultimate team player, he is widely considered one of the best players in the current game and has often been described as a "midfield magician". He is also one of only two players to win the 'hurler of the year' award more than once, with the only other player to do so being Henry Shefflin with three wins.

Aaron Gillane is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward for club side Patrickswell and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team.

The Limerick county hurling team represents Limerick in hurling and is governed by Limerick GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League.

The 2021 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 134th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The championship began on 26 June and ended on 22 August 2021.

Jason Gillane is an Irish hurler who plays for Limerick Senior Championship club Patrickswell and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. A forward for his club, he usually lines out as a goalkeeper in inter-county competitions. His brother, Aaron Gillane, also plays for Patrickswell and Limerick.

The 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 135th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The provincial fixtures were released on 27 November 2021. The championship began on 16 April 2022 and ended on 17 July 2022.

The 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final, the 135th final of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship and the culmination of the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, was played at Croke Park in Dublin on 17 July 2022. This was the earliest in the year that the final had ever taken place. Some past finals had taken place at dates earlier in the year, but these were finals rescheduled from the years in which they were originally supposed to occur.

The 2023 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 129th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. The draws for the group stage pairings took place on 3 February 2023. The championship ran from 4 August to 28 October 2023.
