History
Prior to the foundation of the club sportsmen of the area played with South Liberties GAA or other city clubs such as the Commercials, Young Irelanders or Claughaun GAA. The club was originally set up in 1962 both to provide a GAA club for past pupils of Sexton Street CBS hence the name 'Old Christians' and also to promote hurling and football on the southside of the city in an area where rugby and in particular soccer would have had the upper hand. Even though they won the 1962 Limerick Senior Football Championship in their first year with victory over Claughaun, their main concern was hurling in those early years and their under-14 team won the All-Ireland Féile na nGael title in 1972 beating Nenagh Éire Óg GAA, the club's greatest ever hurling achievement. They continued to hurl at a senior level up to the mid 1970s when the club went into decline, as not as many hurlers were coming out of Sexton Street CBS to play with 'Christians'. Old Christians went on to win both Minor County Championships in hurling and football in 1966.
However the 1980s saw a revival and the club won several underage city and county titles. The minor hurlers reached the county final in 1984 under the Southill/Old Christians name. The popularity of football also grew and footballers played with the neighbouring Ballinacurra Gaels club and later in hurling as well in the 1990s. Old Christians won the 1992 County Intermediate Hurling Championship but they struggled to compete at senior level and were constantly fighting relegation. They were eventually relegated back to the intermediate grade in 1999 and they were back to playing junior A by 2007. They have progressed though at underage and have won numerous county titles over the last ten years, including the County Under-14 A Football title in 2013. At adult level they field a Junior A hurling team in the City Championship but no football team, who are catered for by sister club Ballinacurra Gaels at Junior B level.
Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA.
Pat Hartigan is an Irish former hurler who played for his local club South Liberties and at senior level for the Limerick county team in the 1970s. He is regarded as one of Limerick's greatest-ever players.

Doon GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, founded in 1888. It is based in the village of Doon in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is part of the East Division of the Limerick GAA and has a tremendous record at underage level, but has yet to win a County Senior Hurling Championship. The club only plays hurling, but footballers in the parish play with neighbouring Oola. The manager is Austin Buckley.

Timothy O'Sullivan was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Midleton, Blackrock, St Finbarr's and Castlemartyr and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team.
Claughaun Gaelic Athletic Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club within Limerick GAA, based in St Brigid's parish on the southside of Limerick City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1902, in the Poulin/Pennywell area of St John's parish. It has considerable success over the years in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club grounds are located on the Childers Road, at what has become a prominent venue for games of all levels. The club was relegated to intermediate status in both football and hurling following the 2010 championships. Clauaghaun returned to the Limerick Senior Football Championship after winning the 2020 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship.
Na Piarsaigh is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 1–15 to 3–11 victory in the 2022 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over St Senan's, Na Piarsaigh are one of Four dual senior club in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. The club currently field five adult teams three in hurling and two in football, the most of any club in Limerick. In 2011, Na Piarsaigh won their first ever Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. In November 2015, Na Piarsaigh won their third Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship after a 2–18 to 2–11 win against Ballygunner in the final. On St Patrick's Day, 2016 Na Piarsaigh won their first ever All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship beating Ruairí Óg, Cushendall 2–25 to 2–14 in Croke Park, becoming the first ever Limerick club to do so. In December 2022 Na Piarsaigh won the Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship beating Croagh/Kilfinny 1-19 to 0-14, earning promotion to the Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship for 2023 and are the only club in Limerick to field teams in both the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship & Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship.
William Ryan was an Irish hurler who played for club sides Cappamore, Murroe and Claughaun and at inter-county level with Limerick.

Young Irelands GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Limerick, Ireland that field both underage and adult male sports teams. The primary club sport was hurling, but the teams also played football.
