Adare GAA club is a GAA club based in Adare, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland.

Adare have reached the County Senior Hurling Final on 12 occasions. After losing the finals of 1968, 1986, 1990, 1993 and 1996, they finally won their first championship in 2001 and successfully defended it in 2002. In 2003, they narrowly missed out on winning three county titles in a row after losing out to Patrickswell in the final. However, Adare managed to complete a historic 3-in-a-row in 2007 and 2008 and 2009. 2008 marked their first win in the Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship when they overcame Toomevara. They were subsequently defeated in the Munster Final by De La Salle on a scoreline of 0–10 to 1-09. [1]

Adare saw a sharp rise in Limerick football prominence winning consecutive promotion through the Junior B, Junior A and Intermediate ranks from 1999, 2000, 2001 respectively. Adare were defeated by Monaleen after a replay in the 2002 Limerick Senior Football Championship. Adare's second Senior Final appearance was in 2010, where they were again defeated by Monaleen. In 2016, Adare won the Limerick Intermediate Football Championship and subsequently gained promotion back to Limerick Senior Football Championship. In the same year, Adare then became the first Limerick club to beat Cork opposition in the Munster Intermediate Club Football Championship overcoming Kiskeam in the Munster Semi-Final. [2] [3] Adare were defeated by a formidable Kenmare Shamrocks team in the Munster Club Final. [4] In 2017, the club again made history winning the County Senior Championship for the first time, beating Newcastle West in the Final. [5] In 2018, the club went on to retain the title, becoming the first team in history to win 2 senior titles immediately following success at intermediate level. In 2020, Adare then secured a third Senior Championship title beating Ballylanders comprehensively in the Final.

Notable players

Declan Hannon and Ronan Connolly are current members of the Limerick senior hurling team and in 2020 were part of the Limerick team that won the Liam MacCarthy. Declan Hannon is the current Limerick Senior Hurling Captain and has led them to All-Ireland glory in 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022. Mark Foley has played in 2 all Ireland finals and won 2 all-stars in 1996 and 2001. In 1996 Foley won young player of the year. He was captain of the Limerick senior team in 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009. In 2009, he became Limerick's most "capped" ever player when he reached a record 47 senior championship appearances for the county. Other players to have represented Limerick at Senior level include: Timmy Houlihan, Conor Fitzgerald, Jack Foley, Donncha Sheehan, Michael Clifford and Wayne McNamara.

Hugh Bourke, Robbie Bourke, Paul Maher and David Connolly are current members of the Limerick Senior Football panel. Other players to have represented Limerick at Senior level include: Stephen Lavin, Aidan O'Rahilly, Neil Mulvihill, Mikey Lyons and Conor Fitzgerald.

Adare Ladies Gaelic Football Club

Adare Ladies Gaelic Football Club was founded in 2005. Initially fielding U10 & U12, the club has grown significantly over the past 14 years and now fields teams at U8 up to Adult grades. In 2019, Adare LGFC commenced the Gaelic For Mothers and Others with up to 32 players enjoying all of the positive aspects that G4MO brings. The club trains and plays most of its underage matches in The Manor Fields. Many of the adult matches are played in Adare GAA pitch, with whom we have a close working relationship.

Adare LGFC has gone on to win county titles at several different ages and grades, including U18A Shield 2017, Junior Adult League 2017, U18 B Shield 2018, U16 A Championship 2016, various U12 and U14 titles. Junior A finalists 2019 & 2020. Members of the club have represented Limerick at U14/16/17/Minor and Adult grades. Adare captured their first Adult title when winning the Limerick Junior A championship in 2021 [7] [8]

Ardscoil Rís is a voluntary, all-boys, Roman Catholic secondary school in Limerick, Ireland. Located on the North Circular Road, its catchment area includes neighbourhoods on the northside of Limerick such as Caherdavin, Mayorstone and Clareview though many students commute from other areas of the city as well as surrounding rural areas.

Mark Foley is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Adare and was a member of the Limerick senior inter-county team from 1995 until 2009.

Doon GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, founded in 1888. It is based in the village of Doon in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is part of the East Division of the Limerick GAA and has a tremendous record at underage level, but has yet to win a County Senior Hurling Championship. The club only plays hurling, but footballers in the parish play with neighbouring Oola. The manager is Austin Buckley.

Claughaun Gaelic Athletic Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club within Limerick GAA, based in St Brigid's parish on the southside of Limerick City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1902, in the Poulin/Pennywell area of St John's parish. It has considerable success over the years in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club grounds are located on the Childers Road, at what has become a prominent venue for games of all levels. The club was relegated to intermediate status in both football and hurling following the 2010 championships. Clauaghaun returned to the Limerick Senior Football Championship after winning the 2020 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship.

Kerry are by far the most successful team in the history of Gaelic football. Na Piarsaigh is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 2-8 to 2-6 victory in the 2022 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over Dromcollogher Broadford, Na Piarsaigh are one of Four dual senior club in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. The club currently field five adult teams three in hurling and two in football, the most of any club in Limerick. In 2011, Na Piarsaigh won their first ever Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. In November 2015, Na Piarsaigh won their third Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship after a 2–18 to 2–11 win against Ballygunner in the final. On St Patrick's Day, 2016 Na Piarsaigh won their first ever All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship beating Ruairí Óg, Cushendall 2–25 to 2–14 in Croke Park, becoming the first ever Limerick club to do so. Donncha Sheehan is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Adare and was a member of the Limerick senior inter-county team from 2003 until 2009. He was captain of the Limerick Under 21 team that won the 2000 All Ireland Under 21 Hurling Championship

Croom GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Croom, County Limerick, Ireland. The club was founded in 1884 and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football.

Wayne McNamara is an Irish hurler who plays as a right wing-back for the Limerick senior team.

Lisgoold GAA Club is a gaelic football, hurling and ladies football club based in the village of Lisgoold, County Cork, Ireland. The club draws its support from Leamlara, Ballincurrig, Peafield and Lisgoold itself. The club fields teams in Cork GAA and Imokilly GAA divisional competitions.

Shane O'Neill is an Irish hurling manager and former player who previously was the manager of the Galway senior hurling team. As a player he lined out with Limerick Senior Championship club Na Piarsaigh and the Limerick senior hurling team.

Ronan Connolly is an Irish hurler who plays for Limerick Senior Championship club Adare and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a left corner-back.

The Mayo county hurling team represents Mayo in hurling and is governed by Mayo GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the Christy Ring Cup and the National Hurling League. It formerly competed in the abolished Connacht Senior Hurling Championship.

The 2021 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 127th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 30 June 2021. The championship began on 3 September 2021 and ended on 24 October 2021.

The 2022 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 128th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. The draws for the group stage pairings took place on 22 February 2022. The championship ran from 28 July to October 2022.
