The 1986 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 92nd staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. [1]

Kilmallock entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Adare in the quarter-finals. [2]

The final was played on 28 September 1986 at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, between Claughaun and Adare, in what was their second meeting in the final overall and a first final meeting in 18 years. Claughaun won the match by 1–09 to 0–09 to claim their 10th championship title overall and a first title in 15 years. [3]
