The 1976 New Zealand rugby union tour of South America was a series of eight matches played by the New Zealand national rugby union team in Uruguay and Argentina in October and November 1976. The tour was entirely successful as the New Zealand team won all nine matches, scoring a total of 321 points with 72 conceded.

Contents

New Zealand did not award full international caps for the three international matches against the Uruguay and Argentina national teams. The match played on 29 October was also first time Argentina played New Zealand in their history. [2]

In 1977 the British Lions rugby union team toured New Zealand. The Lions played 26 matches, including four internationals against the All Blacks. They lost the series against the All Blacks by three matches to one. The team played as the British Isles in their internationals against the All Blacks and the British Lions for the non-international games. Unlike all previous tours to New Zealand, the Lions did not play any matches in Australia, though one game was also played at Buckhurst Park, Suva, against Fiji.

England were the first of the Home Nations to tour Argentina, and to take advantage of the recent International Board (IB) ruling that full caps could be awarded for matches against non-IB countries. It had been the intention to tour Argentina in 1973, but terrorist threats had necessitated cancellation and the side had gone to Fiji and New Zealand instead.

The 1980 New Zealand tour of Wales was a collection of friendly rugby union games undertaken by the New Zealand All Blacks against Wales that also took in two international games in North America en route to South Wales. This was a single test tour against each of the countries played, with four games against Welsh club opposition.
