The 1991–92 DFB-Pokal was the 49th season of the annual German football cup competition. After the German reunification in 1990 the football association of eastern Germany, Nordostdeutscher Fußballverband, joined the German Football Association (DFB) on 21 November 1990. Football clubs from eastern Germany thus participated for the first time in the DFB-Pokal. 87 teams competed in the final tournament, which had thus to be extended to seven rounds. It began on 1 August 1991 and ended on 23 May 1992.

The 1988–89 DFB-Pokal was the 46th season of the annual German football cup competition. It began on 6 August 1988 and ended on 24 June 1989. 64 teams competed in the tournament of six rounds. In the final Borussia Dortmund defeated Werder Bremen 4–1.

The 2008 DFB-Pokal Final decided the winner of the 2007–08 DFB-Pokal, the 65th season of Germany's premier knockout football cup competition. The match took place on 19 April 2008 between thirteen-time winners Bayern München and two-time winners Borussia Dortmund. The final was played in front of 70,000 at Berlin's Olympiastadion. Bayern ran out 2–1 winners in extra time, thanks to two strikes from Italian forward Luca Toni, gaining their 14th DFB-Pokal title and gaining the first trophy of a league and cup double.

The final of the 2008–09 DFB-Pokal season was held on 30 May 2009 at the Olympiastadion, Berlin. Werder Bremen won with a 58th-minute goal from midfielder Mesut Özil.
