The 1998 Chinese Jia-A League (known as Marlboro Jia-A League for sponsorship reasons) was the fifth season of professional association football and the 37th top-tier overall league season held in China. The league was expanded to 14 teams and started on March 22, 1998, and ending on October 25, 1998, where it saw Dalian Wanda win their third consecutive league title.

Pei Encai is a Chinese football manager and a former player.

The 2005 Chinese Super League season was the second season of China's top-tier football competition. With no relegation the previous season, the league expanded from 12 to 14 clubs with the promotion of Shanghai Zobon and Wuhan Huanghelou. The season was scheduled to start on 5 March 2005, but was postponed until April due to a sponsorship problem and finished on 5 November with Dalian Shide, seven-time champions in the old first division, clinching their eighth title. Defending champions Shenzhen Jianlibao finished third from bottom, the second consecutive year in which the defending champions has done so.

Wuhan Optics Valley Football Club is a defunct football club that was located in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, China. The club's home stadium was Xinhua Road Sports Center, while the important matches were played at the more modern stadium Wuhan Sports Center in China. Their fans were mainly from Hubei province and the club had supporters from the city of Wuhan, and the surrounding cities of Ezhou, Huangshi, and Xiaogan. It was founded in 1954 as the Hubei Football Team, while the professional football team was founded in February 1994. In 2008, the club quit the Chinese Super League because of what it believed to be unfair punishment after the club had a dispute with the Chinese Football Association over the club's on-field behaviour against Beijing Guoan in a league game. Some of its players formed a new team called Hubei Luyin and made a return to Chinese Super League in 2013.

Xu Genbao is a Chinese football manager and a former international football player. He is the current founder, chairman and general coach of Shanghai East Asia football club as well as also being the owner of the Genbao Football Academy. Though he was a Chinese international footballer, it was not until he became a manager and won the Chinese Jia-A League title with the China B team that he started to gain attention within Chinese football. This early success led to a Chinese national team appointment and then successful spells at Shanghai Shenhua and Dalian Wanda.

It was named the Pepsi Chinese Jia-A League for sponsorship reasons, while the league started on March 21 and ended on December 5, 1999 and saw Shandong Luneng win the championship.

The 2000 Chinese Jia-A League season is the seventh season of professional association football and the 39th top-tier overall league season in China. It was named the Pepsi Chinese Jia-A League for sponsorship reasons, while the league started on March 19 and ended on October 1, 2000, and saw Dalian Shide win the championship.

The 2003 Chinese Jia-A League season is the tenth season of professional association football and the 42nd top-tier overall league season in China. The league started on March 15 and ended on November 30, 2003, while in preparation for the rebranded Chinese Super League three teams were relegated at the end of the season.

Xu Hong is a retired Chinese football player and football manager. He was most recently the manager of Chinese Super League team Dalian Aerbin F.C. for 63 days before he had to resign on February 19, 2013, because it was discovered by the Chinese Football Association that he manipulated a match while as a manager at Sichuan Guancheng and was given a 5-year suspension from all football activity.

Hao haitao and former China national player Hao Haidong are cousins.
