Paradorn Srichaphan is a Thai former professional tennis player. Srichaphan was the first player from Asia to be ranked in the world's top 10 of men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), reaching a career high ranking of world No. 9. His nickname is "Ball". He graduated as a Bachelor of Social Science from Ramkhamhaeng University.
Juan Carlos Ferrero defeated Martin Verkerk in the final, 6–1, 6–3, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2003 French Open. It was his first and only major singles title.
Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–2), 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2003 US Open. It was his first and only major title. Roddick remains the most recent American to win a major men's singles title. Roddick saved a match point en route to the title, in the semifinals against David Nalbandian. He also completed the "Summer Slam," having won Masters titles in Canada and Cincinnati in the lead-up to the US Open.
Three-time defending champion Roger Federer defeated Rafael Nadal in the final, 6–0, 7–6(7–5), 6–7(2–7), 6–3 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships. It was his fourth Wimbledon title and his eighth major title overall. Federer lost just one set during the tournament, to Nadal in the final. It would be the first of three consecutive years that Federer and Nadal would contest the Wimbledon final.
