Kim Clijsters defeated Mary Pierce in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2005 US Open. It was her first major singles title and first of an eventual three US Open titles.

Venus Williams defeated compatriot and world No. 1 Lindsay Davenport in the final, 4–6, 7–6(7–4), 9–7 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2005 Wimbledon Championships. It was the longest Wimbledon women's final match in history, lasting two hours and 45 minutes, over an hour longer than that year's men's final. She became the first woman since Helen Wills in 1935 and the first in the Open era to win the Wimbledon title after saving a match point against her. This was Venus's third Wimbledon singles title, fifth Grand Slam singles title overall, and her first since the 2001 US Open. Venus dropped only one set the entire tournament, to Davenport in the final. Maria Sharapova was the defending champion, but lost to Venus Williams in the semifinals.

Vera Yevgenyevna Dushevina is a retired Russian tennis player.

Third seed Amélie Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final 6–1, 2–0 ret., to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2006 Australian Open. Henin was suffering from stomach cramps resulting from the accidental misuse of anti-inflammatories for a chronic shoulder injury. This was the third match Mauresmo played during the tournament where her opponent retired. Mauresmo and Henin-Hardenne would have a rematch in the final of Wimbledon later that year, where Mauresmo would win in three sets.

Defending champion Serena Williams successfully defended her title, defeating her sister Venus Williams in a rematch of the previous year's final, 4–6, 6–4, 6–2 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2003 Wimbledon Championships. It was her second Wimbledon title and sixth major title overall.

Maria Sharapova defeated the two-time defending champion Serena Williams in the final, 6–1, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2004 Wimbledon Championships. It was her first major title. The 17-year-old's victory over the six-time major champion was described by commentators as "the most stunning upset in memory".

Anastasia Myskina won her only Grand Slam title and defeated Elena Dementieva in the final 6–1, 6–2, to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2004 French Open. Myskina had previously never passed the second round. She became the first Russian woman to win a Major. Myskina became the first woman in the Open Era to win the French Open after saving a match point in the fourth round against Svetlana Kuznetsova. This was the first time two new Grand Slam finalists competed each other in the final since the 1979 Australian Open.

Yan Zi and Zheng Jie were the defending champions but Zheng did not compete. Yan partnered with Peng Shuai but lost in the quarterfinals to Alicia Molik and Mara Santangelo.

Ana Ivanovic won her first and only Grand Slam singles title, beating first-time finalist Dinara Safina, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2008 French Open. Ivanovic became the new WTA singles No. 1 by reaching the final. Maria Sharapova, Jelena Janković and Svetlana Kuznetsova were also in contention for the No. 1 ranking at the start of the tournament. Ivanovic dropped only one set the entire tournament, to her compatriot Janković in the semifinals. This marked the last time Ivanovic would reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal for four and a half years until she reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 US Open, a span of 18 Grand Slam tournaments.

The 2008 Qatar Ladies Open singles was the singles event of the 2008 Qatar Ladies Open, a WTA Tier I tennis tournament held in February. Justine Henin was the defending champion, but she chose not to participate that year.

Defending champion Venus Williams successfully defended her title, defeating her sister Serena Williams in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships. It was Venus' fifth Wimbledon title and her seventh major singles title overall. She won the title without losing a set, the second time she did so at a major.

2012 Wimbledon Championships – Womens singles 2012 tennis event results

Serena Williams defeated Agnieszka Radwańska in the final, 6–1, 5–7, 6–2 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. It was her fifth Wimbledon singles title and her 14th major singles title overall. Radwańska became the first Pole to reach a major singles final in the Open Era.

Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion but chose to compete in the women's draw.

Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals to Max Mirnyi and Chan Hao-ching.

Gisela Dulko and Ashley Harkleroad were the defending champions, but they did not compete in the Juniors this year.

Vera Dushevina was the defending champion but did not complete in the Juniors this year.
