The 1980–81 FIFA World Champions' Gold Cup, also known as Mundialito, was an international football tournament organized by the Uruguayan Football Association and supported by FIFA and recognized before its inception by then FIFA President João Havelange. At the July 4, 1980 FIFA congress, the president publicly stated: "At FIFA we have welcomed the initiative of the Uruguayan Football Association, granting official status to the Gold Cup. FIFA actively participates in the organization and offers its experience." The tournament commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first FIFA World Cup, which had been celebrated in 1930 at the same venue. It was held at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 30 December 1980 to 10 January 1981.

Marcelo Carlo Broli Gorgoroso is a Uruguayan professional football manager and former player who currently manages the United Arab Emirates national under-23 football team.

Lucas Zoilo Saldombide Astol was a Uruguayan footballer. He was part of the team that won the first ever World Cup in 1930 for Uruguay, but he did not play any matches in the tournament. He was a club player of Montevideo Wanderers and Nacional.

The season, named as "Néstor "Tito" Gonçalves", began on 15 February 2020 and ended on 7 April 2021. Nacional were the defending champions, having won the title in the previous season and successfully defended their title in this season by defeating Rentistas in the finals by a 4–0 score on aggregate, thus claiming their 48th Primera División title.

The season, named "Dr. Tabaré Vázquez" after the late former President of Uruguay and chairman of Progreso from 1979 to 1989, started on 15 May and ended on 7 December 2021, with the starting date having been pushed back from early 2021 due to the late conclusion of the previous season owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the Campeonato Uruguayo de Primera División 2022, was the 119th season of the Uruguayan Primera División, Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 92nd in which it is professional. The season, which was named "Walter Devoto", began on 5 February and ended on 30 October 2022 due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar during November and December 2022.

The Divisional Tercera de Ascenso is the third division of professional club basketball league in Uruguay. It is organized by the Uruguayan Basketball Federation (FUBB). The competition began in 2003. The promotion basketball championships replaced the Third Promotion Federal Championship.
