<span class="mw-page-title-main">Eurovision Song Contest 2004</span> International song competition

The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following the country's victory at the 2003 contest with the song "Everyway That I Can" by Sertab Erener. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), the contest was held at the Abdi İpekçi Arena, and, for the first time, consisted of a semi-final on 12 May, and a final on 15 May 2004. The two live shows were presented by Turkish actors Korhan Abay and Meltem Cumbul. It was the first time that Turkey had hosted the contest, 29 years after the country made its debut, and was also the first time since the 1998 contest in Birmingham that it was not hosted in the host country's capital city.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sertab Erener</span> Turkish singer, songwriter and composer

Sertab Erener is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer. With her coloratura soprano voice, she started working as a backing vocalist for Sezen Aksu, and with Aksu's help she released her first studio album in the 1990s. Because of her education in classical music, she initially had difficulties in performing pop music. Although she did experimental works from time to time, she eventually preferred to focus on making pop music instead of avant-garde works, in order to make her music heard by a larger audience. In some of her works, she combined Western music and Eastern music, and benefited from operas as well as classical Turkish music with ethnic elements. With her entrance to Europe's market in the early 2000s, many of her works were also sold in Turkey as well as European countries.

Gülseren Yıldırım is a Turkish-French singer, whose output covers a wide range of genres, including pop, Latin, techno, and traditional Turkish music. Despite having lived in France for most of her life, she was selected to represent the country of her birth in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, held in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Turkey has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in 1975. The Turkish participant broadcaster in the contest is Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT). Turkey won the contest once in 2003, and hosted the 2004 contest in Istanbul. Since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, Turkey has only failed to qualify for the final once, in 2011.

<i>No Boundaries</i> (Sertab Erener album) 2004 studio album by Sertab Erener

No Boundaries is the seventh album from Turkish popstar Sertab Erener. It has been credited with introducing her music to mainland Europe upon its release in 2004, having previously been a huge domestic success in her native country. This album was released in Turkey, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Israel, Russia, Japan and some other countries.

Demir Demirkan is a Turkish musician, Eurovision Song Contest winning composer, formerly guitarist for thrash metal band Mezarkabul. Demir Demirkan started playing music when he was 13 and played guitar with various groups in college. Demir Demirkan also wrote television jingles and composed soundtracks for television and films.

Turkey participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Superstar" written and performed by Sibel Tüzün, who was internally selected by the Turkish broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) to represent the nation at the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. The announcement of Sibel Tüzün as the Turkish representative occurred on 5 January 2006, while her song, "Superstar", was presented to the public on 4 March 2006.

"Sanomi" is a song recorded by Belgian band Urban Trad, written by Yves Barbieux. It represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, held in Riga. It was the first song not in a natural language ever performed at the contest.

Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Rimi Rimi Ley", composed by Erdinç Tunç, with lyrics by Göksan Arman, and performed by Gülseren. The Turkish participating broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) selected its entry through the national final 27. Eurovision Şarkı Yarışması Türkiye Finali. Seven artists and song competed in a televised show on 11 February 2005 where the winner, "Rimi Rimi Ley" performed by Gülseren, was selected by a 17-member jury panel.

"Can't Wait Until Tonight" was the German entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, performed in English and Turkish by Maximilian Mutzke. The song was written and composed by Stefan Raab, who previously had written both Guildo Horn's 1998 entry "Guildo hat euch lieb!" and his own "Wadde hadde dudde da?" in 2000.

Turkey participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Shake It Up Şekerim" written and performed by Kenan Doğulu, who was internally selected by the Turkish broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) to represent the nation at the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The announcement of Kenan Doğulu as the Turkish entrant occurred on 19 December 2006, while "Shake It Up Şekerim" was presented to the public on 9 March 2007.

Levent Çoker is a Turkish musician, arranger, conductor, and composer who represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest as a composer, arranger and conductor in 1996 and 1997. His song "Dinle" won 3rd place in Eurovision Song Contest 1997 and was the country's best result since it began participating in the Contest, and remained so until 2003, when soprano pop star Sertab Erener attained the top spot.

Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "For Real", written by Gökhan Özoğuz and Hakan Özoğuz, and performed by the band Athena. The Turkish participating broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) selected its entry through a national final, after having previously selected the performers internally. In addition, TRT was also the host broadcaster and staged the event at the Abdi İpekçi Arena in Istanbul, after winning the previous edition with the song "Everyway That I Can" performed by Sertab Erener.

Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song "Everyway That I Can" written by Demir Demirkan and Sertab Erener, and performed by Erener herself. The Turkish participating broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) internally selected its entry for the contest. The song was presented to the public on 8 March 2003 during the TRT 1 show Sayısal Gece. This was the first time that the Turkish song was performed entirely in English at the contest.

Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song "Leylaklar Soldu Kalbinde", written by Samih Hodara, Figen Çakmak, and Fani Hodara, and performed by Buket Bengisu and Group Safir. The Turkish participating broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT), selected its entry through a national final.

Ozan Çolakoğlu is a Turkish composer, songwriter and music producer; famous for his work with various Turkish pop singers and his multiple film scores. He co-founded the production company Sarı Ev, but left it in 2010 to work for dB Müzik.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Elnur Hüseynov</span> Azerbaijani singer (born 1987)

Elnur Hüseynov, also known as Elnur Hussein, is an Azerbaijani singer. He was the first Azerbaijan's representative to perform "Day After Day" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 alongside Samir Javadzadeh as duo Elnur and Samir. In 2015, he won the fourth season of The Voice of Turkey and represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Hour of the Wolf".

Spain was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Para llenarme de ti", written by Kike Santander, and performed by Ramón. The Spanish participating broadcaster, Televisión Española (TVE), selected its entry through the third series of the reality television music competition Operación Triunfo. Four artists and songs ultimately qualified to compete in the final of the competition's Eurovision selection show where a public televote exclusively selected "Para llenarme de ti" performed by Ramón as the winner, receiving 38.8% of the votes.

"Everyway That I Can" is a song recorded by Turkish singer Sertab Erener, with music composed by herself and Demir Demirkan, lyrics written by Demirkan, and production and arrangement by Ozan Çolakoğlu. It represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, held in Riga, winning the contest. It was the first entry from Turkey in the contest that did not feature any Turkish lyrics.

Turkish pop singer Sertab Erener's discography consists of eleven studio albums, two live albums, three compilation albums, one cover album, three extended plays (EP), and fifteen singles. After graduating from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, she worked as a backing vocalist for Sezen Aksu, and released her first studio album Sakin Ol! in 1992, which sold more than a million copies. In 1994, her second studio album, Lâ'l, was released, followed by Sertab Gibi in 1997.
