Roger Federer defeated Lleyton Hewitt in the final, 6–0, 7–6(7–3), 6–0 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2004 US Open. It was his first US Open title and fourth major title overall. He became first man to capture the Australian Open, the Wimbledon Championships, and the US Open in a season since Jimmy Connors in 1974.
