The 2006 Big East Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Bright House Field in Clearwater, FL. This was the twenty second annual Big East Conference Baseball Tournament. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won their fifth tournament championship in a row and claimed the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. [3]
The Big East baseball tournament was an 8 team double elimination tournament in 2006. The top eight regular season finishers were seeded one through eight based on conference winning percentage only. The field was divided into two brackets, with the winners of each bracket meeting in a single championship game. This was the first time that eight teams were included in the field. [3]

Wade Corpi was the winner of the 2006 Jack Kaiser Award. Carpi was a sophomore pitcher for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. [3]
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference located in the eastern United States. Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, the ACC's fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I. ACC football teams compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions held in high regard nationally. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the athletic teams that represent the University of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish participate in 23 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I intercollegiate sports and in the NCAA's Division I in all sports, with many teams competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Notre Dame is one of only 16 universities in the United States that plays Division I FBS football and Division I men's ice hockey. The school colors are Gold and Blue and the mascot is the Leprechaun. It was founded on November 23, 1887 with football in Notre Dame, Indiana.
Michael Paul Brey is an American college basketball coach. He has been the men's head coach at the University of Notre Dame since July 14, 2000.
Paul Mainieri is a former baseball coach and second baseman. He played college baseball at LSU, Miami-Dade CC and New Orleans before pursuing a professional baseball career. He then served as the head coach of the St. Thomas Bobcats (1983–1988), the Air Force Falcons (1989–1994), the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1995–2006) and the LSU Tigers (2007–2021). Mainieri coached LSU to the 2009 College World Series Championship.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball team is the intercollegiate women's basketball program representing University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The program currently competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference of NCAA Division I. The Fighting Irish play their home games in the Purcell Pavilion at the Edmund P. Joyce Center, and are currently coached by Niele Ivey.

Notre Dame competes as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the NCAA Division 1 college baseball league. The team is currently coached by Link Jarrett and plays its home games at Frank Eck Baseball Stadium, which has a capacity of 1,825. The school has appeared in three College World Series, in 1957, 2002, and 2022 and has won 6 conference titles.
The 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship was the thirty-first annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national championship for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I women's college lacrosse. The tournament began with first-round play on May 12, and concluded with the championship game played at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, on May 27, 2012. The Northwestern Wildcats were the 2012 NCAA Tournament champions.
The 1996 Big East Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich, CT. This was the twelfth annual Big East Conference Baseball Tournament. The West Virginia Mountaineers won their only tournament championship in their first year in the league, and claimed the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 1996 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. West Virginia joined the Big 12 Conference after the 2012 season.

Dave Schrage in an American baseball coach and former outfielder. He played college baseball at Creighton University for head coach Dave Underwood from 1980 to 1983. He then served as the head coach of the Waldorf Warriors (1988–1990), Northern Iowa Panthers (1991–1999), Northern Illinois Huskies (2000–2002), Evansville Purple Aces (2003–2006), Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2007–2010) South Dakota State Jackrabbits (2012–2016) and the Butler Bulldogs (2017–2022).
