The women's doubles Tournament at the 2006 Italian Open took place between 8 May and 22 May on the outdoor clay courts of the Foro Italico in Rome, Italy. Daniela Hantuchová and Ai Sugiyama won the title, defeating Francesca Schiavone and Květa Peschke in the final.

Nadia Petrova and Meghann Shaughnessy were the defending champions, but had different outcomes. While Petrova decided to focus only on the singles tournament, Shaughnessy partnered with Anna-Lena Grönefeld and lost in semifinals to Maria Kirilenko and Anabel Medina Garrigues.

Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur were the defending champions, but lost in first round to Nathalie Dechy and Tatiana Golovin.
