The 6th season of Liga ABA saw them change their name to the ABA NLB League as their general sponsor changed. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company ceded their sponsorship rights to the NLB group.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is an American multinational tire manufacturing company founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling and based in Akron, Ohio. Goodyear manufactures tires for automobiles, commercial trucks, light trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, race cars, airplanes, farm equipment and heavy earth-mover machinery. It also produced bicycle tires from its founding until 1976. As of 2017, Goodyear is one of the top four tire manufacturers along with Bridgestone (Japan), Michelin (France) and Continental (Germany).
In other changes, after Montenegro declared independence in 2006, Budućnost returned to the regional league with a wild-card given by the NLB League board. And the Final Four tournament was replaced with a playoff.
Montenegro is a country in Southeast Europe on the Adriatic Sea. It borders Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest; Serbia and Kosovo to the east, Albania to the south and Croatia to the west. Montenegro has an area of 13,812 square kilometres and a population of 620,079. Its capital Podgorica is one of the twenty-three municipalities in the country. Cetinje is designated as the Old Royal Capital.
14 teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia participated in the NLB League in its sixth season: Union Olimpija, Helios, Geoplin Slovan, Cibona, Zadar, Zagreb, Split, Široki ERONET, Bosna ASA BH TELECOM, Crvena zvezda, Partizan, Hemofarm, FMP Železnik, Budućnost.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, abbreviated B&H, sometimes called Bosnia–Herzegovina and often known informally as Bosnia, is a country in Southeastern Europe, located within the Balkan Peninsula. Sarajevo is the capital and largest city.
Croatia, officially the Republic of Croatia, is a country at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, on the Adriatic Sea. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Its capital, Zagreb, forms one of the country's primary subdivisions, along with twenty counties. Serbia, officially the Republic of Serbia, is a country situated at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe in the southern Pannonian Plain and the central Balkans. It borders Hungary to the north, Romania to the northeast, Bulgaria to the southeast, North Macedonia to the south, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to the west, and Montenegro to the southwest. The country claims a border with Albania through the disputed territory of Kosovo. Serbia's population numbers approximately seven million, most of whom are Orthodox Christians. Its capital, Belgrade, ranks among the oldest and largest citiеs in southeastern Europe.
There were 26 rounds played in the regular part of the season. The best four teams qualified for the play-off (best-of-three series).

The ABA League, renamed to the ABA League First Division in 2017, commonly known as the Adriatic League First Division, is the 1st-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from the former Yugoslavia. Due to sponsorship reasons, the league was also known as the Goodyear League from 2001 to 2006, and as the NLB League from 2006 to 2011.
KK Budućnost, currently known as Budućnost VOLI for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club from Podgorica, Montenegro. The team competes in Montenegrin Basketball League, Adriatic League and EuroLeague. It is a part of Budućnost sports society and a founding member of the Adriatic Basketball Association.
The Prva A liga, for sponsorships reasons named the Erste Liga, is the top-tier professional basketball league in Montenegro. It is the highest basketball division organized by the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG). It was established in 2006. shortly after Montenegro declared its independence from Serbia and Montenegro.
The ABA NLB League 2007–08, the seventh season of the regional Liga ABA, saw a further change in the competition structure. After trying a playoff system the previous year, the league returned to a combination of elimination and a Final Four tournament.
The 2009–10 NLB Liga ABA was the 9th season of the Liga ABA. 14 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro participated in the NLB League: Union Olimpija, Helios, Cibona, Zagreb, Zadar, Split, Bosna, Široki Eronet, Partizan, Crvena zvezda, FMP, Hemofarm, Radnički Kragujevac, Budućnost. The 2009-10 NLB League Final Four was held on April 23-25, 2010, in Arena Zagreb.
The ABA NLB League 2008–09 season was the 8th season of the Liga ABA. This season saw a return to the competition system in use in 2003–04, when the Final Four Tournament was played at the end of the regular season.
The 2010–11 season was the 10th season of the Liga ABA and 14 teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Czech Republic participated in it. It was only time that team from Czech Republic, Nymburk took part in this regional league, and second time since formation that team that is not from former Yugoslavia took part in league.
The 2012–13 ABA League was the 12th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Hungary participating in it. This was the first time a team from Macedonia, MZT Skopje, and a team from Hungary, Szolnoki Olaj were taking part in this regional league, and the fourth time since the league's creation that team that is not from the former Yugoslavia participates in it. It was also for the first time that two best teams ABA League gained automatic access to the next seasons Euroleague competition, while third placed gained wild card to Euroleague qualification round.
KK Sutjeska is a professional basketball club from Nikšić, Montenegro. The team currently competes in Montenegrin Basketball League and regional Adriatic League. The club was the title holder of the 2013-14 Montenegrin Basketball Cup.
The 2014–15 ABA League was the 14th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Hungary and Bulgaria participating in it.
The 2015–16 ABA League was the 15th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia participating in it.
The 2016–17 ABA League was the 16th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia participating in it. It started on September 29, 2016 with the first round of the regular season and the regular season ended on March 13, 2017 followed by playoffs of the four best placed teams. The Play-offs were played from March 18 till April 13, 2017. Crvena zvezda won its third ABA League championship, after beating Cedevita 3–0 in the Finals.
The 2017 ABA League Supercup was the inaugural tournament of the ABA League Supercup, featuring teams from the Adriatic League First Division. The tournament took place in Bar, Montenegro.
The 2017–18 ABA League First Division was the 17th season of the ABA League with 12 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia participating in it. It was the inaugural season as the first tier as a part of two level competition.
The 2018–19 ABA League First Division is the 18th season of the ABA League with 12 teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia participating in it. It is the first time since the 2011–12 season that there are no participants from North Macedonia.
The 2017–18 Junior ABA League is the inaugural season of the Junior ABA League with ten men's under-19 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia participating in it. Teams are the junior selections of the 2017–18 ABA League First Division teams.
The 2018 ABA League Playoffs is the play-off tournament that decides the winner of the 2017–18 ABA League First Division season. The playoffs started on March 18, 2018 and ended on April 14, 2018. The winner of the play-offs qualifies for the 2018–19 EuroLeague.
The 2019–20 ABA League First Division is the 19th season of the ABA League with 12 teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia participating in it.
The 2018–19 Junior ABA League is the second season of the Junior ABA League with twelve men's under-19 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Teams are the junior selections of the 2018–19 ABA League First Division teams.
The 2019–20 BTravel WABA League is the 19th season of the Adriatic League. Competition included eight teams from six countries. In this season participating clubs from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Slovenia.
