Trabzonspor Turkish football team

Trabzonspor is a Turkish sports club located in the city of Trabzon. Formed in 1967 through a merger of several local clubs, the men's football team has won six Süper Lig championship titles. Trabzonspor also have a women's football team and a men's basketball team.

Süper Lig 2008–09 was the fifty-first season since its establishment. It began on 22 August 2008 and ended on 31 May 2009. Galatasaray were the defending champions.

Turkish Cup 2008–09 was the 47th season of Turkey's annual cup competition. It was also known as Fortis Türkiye Kupası due to a sponsorship contract. The winners (Beşiktaş) qualified for the play-off round of the UEFA Europa League. Kayserispor were the defending champions. Beşiktaş won the cup, after winning 4–2 against Fenerbahçe in the final match, and completed the double as they also were the champions of 2008–09 Süper Lig.

2009–10 Turkish Cup football tournament season

The 2009–10 Turkish Cup was the forty-eighth season of Turkey's annual cup competition. It was also known as Ziraat Türkiye Kupası due to a sponsorship contract. The winners Trabzonspor, also qualified for the play-off round of the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League. Beşiktaş were the defending champions.

The 2009–10 season was the 106th year of Beşiktaş' existence, as well as its 50th season in the Süper Lig. The club also competed in the Turkish Cup and UEFA Champions League. Beşiktaş entered the season as the defending champion of the both the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup. During the pre-season, the club also participated in the Peace Cup, finishing second in their group behind Porto and ahead of Lyon.

The 2008–09 season was Beşiktaş' 105th football season. Also it was the 50th year of the Süper Lig. Beşiktaş won the league as well as the Turkish Cup.

2010–11 Turkish Cup football tournament season

The 2010–11 Turkish Cup was the 49th season of the Turkish Cup. Beşiktaş defeated İstanbul B.B. in the final. The winner also secured a berth in the play-off round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League and qualified for the 2011 Turkish Super Cup. The defending champions were Trabzonspor who were eliminated in the group stage. Trabzonspor (champions), Bursaspor, Fenerbahçe (2nd), and Galatasaray (3rd) automatically qualified for the group stage.

The 2008–09 Fenerbahçe S.K. season was the club's 51st consecutive season in the Süper Lig and their 101st year in existence. They also competed in the UEFA Champions League, starting the competition in the group stage.

The 2011–12 Süper Lig was the 54th season of the Süper Lig, the top level football league of Turkey. Fenerbahçe were the defending champions. The start date of the league was due to be 7 August 2011, but due to the match fixing scandal in Turkey it began instead on 9 September 2011 and was concluded on 12 May 2012. Galatasaray won their 18th title. A new format was introduced this season, in which after the regular season two play-off groups were played to decide over the Champions League and Europa League starting rounds. Points of the regular season were halved for ranking in those.
