Gary Allen Patterson is an American football coach and former player. He was most recently the special assistant to the head coach at the University of Texas. He is the former head football coach at Texas Christian University and the coach with the most wins in Horned Frogs' history. Patterson led the TCU Horned Frogs to six conference championships—one Conference USA title in 2002; four Mountain West Conference titles in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011; —and eleven bowl game victories—including victories in the 2011 Rose Bowl and 2014 Peach Bowl. His 2010 squad finished the season undefeated at 13–0 after a 21–19 Rose Bowl victory over the Wisconsin Badgers on New Year's Day 2011, and ranked second in the final tallying of both major polls.
The TCU Horned Frogs are the athletic teams that represent Texas Christian University. The 18 varsity teams participate in NCAA Division I and in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) for football, competing mostly in the Big 12 Conference. The school was a founding member of the Southwest Conference and was a member of the Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA (C-USA), and the Mountain West Conference before joining the Big 12. Two TCU teams participate outside the Big 12 in sports not sponsored by that conference. The rifle team competes in the Patriot Rifle Conference, and the beach volleyball team will move to C-USA for 2023–24 after having been in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.

Jerry Ray Hughes Jr. is an American football defensive end for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at TCU, where he was twice recognized as a consensus All-American before being selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Hughes has also played for the Buffalo Bills.
The TCU Horned Frogs men's basketball team represents Texas Christian University, located in Fort Worth, Texas, in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. Since 2016, the Horned Frogs have been led by TCU Lettermen's Hall of Fame member, head coach Jamie Dixon. On December 6, they were invited to their first Bowl Championship Series game and their first major bowl since the 1959 Cotton Bowl Classic, against #6 Boise State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 4, 2010. In the Fiesta Bowl, TCU was upset by underdog Boise State, 17–10.

The 2017 Alamo Bowl (December) was a college football bowl game played on December 28, 2017, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The 25th annual Alamo Bowl featured the Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 against the TCU Horned Frogs of the Big 12. It was one of the 2017–18 bowl games concluding the 2017 FBS football season. Sponsored by Valero Energy, the game was officially known as the Valero Alamo Bowl. The contest was televised on ESPN, with kickoff at 8:00 p.m. (CST).
Jalen Armand Reagor is an American football wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at TCU and was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Minnesota Vikings.
