The NAB AFL Rising Star award is given annually to a stand out young player in the Australian Football League. [1] The 2009 Ron Evans medal was won by Brisbane Lions player Daniel Rich. [2]

Eligibility

Every round, an Australian Football League rising star nomination is given to a stand out young player. To be eligible for the award, a player must be under 21 on 1 January of that year, have played 10 or fewer senior games and not been suspended during the season. At the end of the year, one of the 22 nominees is the winner of award. [1]

AFL Rising Star Award

The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year.

Andrew Otten is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Otten was Adelaide’s second selection in the 2007 National Draft, pick 27 overall, having recorded strong results at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp ranking in the top 2% for the vertical leap (92 cm), top ten for agility and the top 20% for the beep test (14.2).

The 2009 Geelong Football Club season was the club's 110th season in the Australian Football League (AFL). Geelong won the 2009 NAB Cup, their third night series/pre-season premiership, defeating Collingwood by 76 points, and finished the regular season in second position on the ladder, resulting in qualification for the 2009 AFL finals series. Geelong's regular season record was the first time a team had won 18 or more matches in the VFL/AFL's regular season for three consecutive seasons. Geelong then proceeded to win its qualifying and preliminary finals in succession to earn a place in the 2009 AFL Grand Final against the minor premiers St Kilda. Geelong won the 2009 Grand Final over St Kilda by 80 points to 68.

2010 AFL season

The 2010 Australian Football League season commenced on 25 March 2010 and concluded on 2 October 2010. It was the 114th season of the elite Australian rules football competition and the 21st under the name 'Australian Football League', having switched from 'Victorian Football League' after 1989. The premiership was won by Collingwood, who defeated St Kilda by 56 points in the Grand Final Replay, which was played after the first Grand Final was drawn. Collingwood's win marked the 15th VFL/AFL premiership in the club's history.

2002 AFL Rising Star Annual award in the Australian Football League

The National AFL Rising Star award is given annually to a stand out young player in the Australian Football League. The 2002 medal was awarded to St Kilda player Nick Riewoldt.
