The NAB AFL Rising Star award is given annually to a standout young player in the Australian Football League (AFL). [1]

Eligibility

Every round, a nomination is given to a standout young player who performed well during that particular round. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be under 21 on 1 January of that year and have played ten or fewer senior games before the start of the season; a player who is suspended may be nominated, but is not eligible to win the award. [1]

It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year.

The NAB Rising Star award is given annually to a standout young player in the Australian Football League. This was the first time the winner was presented with the Ron Evans medal, with it being awarded annually since. The 2007 winner was Joel Selwood of the Geelong Football Club.

The NAB AFL Rising Star award is given annually to a standout young player in the Australian Football League (AFL). The award was won by Carlton's Sam Walsh, marking the fourth time that a player taken first in the draft had won the award.

Haneen Zreika is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She is the first person of Lebanese descent, and the first Muslim, to play in the AFL Women's. Initially a rugby league player, Zreika switched to Australian rules football when she was 15 years old. Zreika played in the AFL Sydney competition before she was drafted by Greater Western Sydney in the 2017 rookie draft. She was delisted by the Giants at the end of the 2018 season, but was later re-selected in the 2018 draft after a strong season in the AFL Sydney. Zreika made her AFLW debut in the opening round of the 2019 season and was nominated for the 2019 AFL Women's Rising Star award in round 7.

He was recruited by the Adelaide Crows with the 64th draft pick in the 2018 AFL draft. Sholl is the son of former Carlton player Brett Sholl, and nephew of former North Melbourne player Craig Sholl and former Geelong player Brad Sholl.

The AFL Women's season seven Rising Star award was presented to the player adjudged the best young player during AFL Women's season seven. Port Adelaide's Hannah Ewings won the award with 41 votes.
