Special assistance

After poor on-field performances in 2020 and 2021, the AFL decided to award special assistance to Richmond in the form of a mid-second round draft selection (originally number 26 overall). [19]

2022 season (spring/season seven)

In May 2022, the AFL announced it would shift the timing of the AFL Women's competition, beginning the season in the last weekend of August for the first time. As a result, the first season under this arrangement was the second season played in the 2022 calendar year. [38] [39]

He previously played 23 matches over five years with Richmond, after being drafted to the club in the third round of the 2015 AFL National Draft. Liam Baker is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Richmond Tigers in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played junior representative football with West Perth in the WAFL and represented Western Australia at national championships at under 18 level. After being undrafted in 2016, Baker then played senior WAFL football with Subiaco. Baker was drafted by the Richmond tigers in the 2018 rookie draft and made his AFL debut in round 19, 2018. He was an AFL premiership player with Richmond in 2019 and 2020, and in 2020 was named to the AFL's 22Under22 team, recognising the best young players in the league. In 2022, Baker was presented the AFLPA most Courageous in the AFL award. The captain of the Richmond Football Club, Dylan Grimes, presented the award to Baker, with Patrick Dangerfield announcing the achievement. In 2024, Baker requested a trade back to Western Australia, officially nominating the West Coast Eagles as his preferred destination just an hour after former Richmond assistant Andrew McQualter was announced as the Eagles new head coach on the 30th of September.

As a junior, Higgins was named All-Australian at the 2017 AFL Under-18 Championships and won the Morrish Medal as the best player in the Victorian junior state league, the TAC Cup. He was drafted by Richmond with the last pick of the first round in the 2017 AFL national draft and made his debut for the club in Round 3 of the 2018 season. In his debut season, he earned the AFL Goal of the Year award and placed fourth in the league Rising Star award.
