The 2011 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships was the thirty-ninth edition of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, that took place between 17 and 21 August 2011 in Szeged, Hungary. The Southern Hungarian city welcomed the world event for the third time, having hosted the championship previously in 1998 and 2006. These championships were awarded initially to Vichy, France, however, the race course on the Allier proved to be inadequate to hold the competition and the French Canoe Federation withdraw from organizing the event, following that Szeged, the original host of the 2013 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, was moved up to 2011.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tacen Whitewater Course</span>

The Tacen Whitewater Course is a venue for canoe and kayak slalom competition in Tacen, Slovenia, a suburb of Ljubljana. Located on the Sava River, eight kilometers northwest of the city center, it is known locally as Kayak Canoe Club Tacen. The course played an important role in development of the sport during the past six decades. In 1939, when its first competition was held, it was a natural rapid at the base of a dam in the Sava River. In 1990, after many upgrades, it was given a concrete channel and the features of a modern Olympic-style slalom course. The course now starts in the lake behind the dam, and the spillway is the first drop. Tacen hosts a major international competition almost every year, examples being the 1955, the 1991, and the 2010 Championships.

Germain Van Der Moere was a Belgian sprint canoeist who competed from the mid-1950s to the early 1960s. He won a gold medal in the K-2 1000 m event at the 1958 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Prague. Van Der Moere also competed in two Summer Olympics, earning his best finish of sixth in the K-2 1000 m event at Melbourne in 1956.

Róbert Schaffhauser is a Hungarian sprint canoer who competed in the early 1970s. He won a silver medal in the K-1 4 x 500 m event at the 1973 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Tampere.

Ágnes Dragos ( ) is a Hungarian sprint canoer who competed in the early 1980s. She won a bronze medal in the K-4 500 m event at the 1982 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Belgrade.

Andrej Glucks is a Croatian slalom canoer who competed from the early 1990s to the early 2010s (decade). Competing in two Summer Olympics, he earned his best finish of 11th in the K-1 event in Sydney in 2000. Glucks also competed in slalom in eight World Championships and eight European Championships.

Peter Gelle is a Slovak sprint canoer who has competed since the late 2000s. He is a member of the Hungarian community in Slovakia.

The Canoe Sprint European Championships is an international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was first held in 1933 in Prague under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. In 1997, the European Championships were resumed, and now take place annually.

Hans W Pawlata, known as "Edi", was an Austrian pioneer of the sport of kayaking; who in 1927, claimed to be the first European to perform a Kayak roll, a skill developed by the Eskimo people. In fact, a number of other Europeans had already learned to roll a kayak, but Pawlata is widely credited with the feat.
