The 2012 African Badminton Championships or Africa Senior Championships were held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia between 26-28 February and organised by the Badminton Confederation of Africa. [1] [2]

Hadia Mohamed Hosny Elsaid Mohamed Tawfik El Said is an Egyptian badminton player playing in the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics. She won the women's singles title at the 2010 African Championships, and emerged as the women's doubles gold medalist at the 2019 African Games.

Grace Gabriel Ofodile is a Nigerian badminton player. She won the women's singles title at the 2012 and 2013 African Championships. Gabriel also won the women's singles silver medal at the 2011 and 2015 African Games.

The Uganda International is an international badminton tournament held in Uganda organised by Uganda Badminton Association. In 2008, this tournament have been sanctioned by Badminton World Federation as International Series rated event with total prize money US$5000. For the badminton players, this tournament become a landmark for Uganda, because they can improved their point in world ranking and also in certain years, the points will be the Olympic Games qualification. Another tournament, Kampala International is a Future Series level since 2023.

The Ethiopia International is an international badminton tournament established in 2011, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and rated as BWF Future Series event. The 2011 tournament points used as a qualification for the players to compete at the London Olympic Games. In 2014, the tournament level-up to International Series, with total prize money US$ 5.000 The tournament is aimed at evaluating and improving the stage and performance of players; and also to show the image of Ethiopia.

The 2014 African Badminton Championships were held in Gaborone, Botswana between 27–29 April and organised by the Badminton Confederation of Africa.

Matej Hliničan is a Slovak male badminton player. In 2014, he won the Ethiopia International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Bridget Shamim Bangi of Ethiopia, and became the runner-up in the men's doubles event with Arnaud Genin of French. In December 2014, he and Bangi became the runner-up at the Botswana International tournament, they were defeated by the South African pair in the final round. In 2015, he teamed-up with Jan Fröhlich in the men's doubles event, and they became the runner-up at the Puerto Rico International tournament.

Elme de Villiers is a South African female badminton player.

The 2012 Thomas & Uber Cups Preliminaries for Africa were held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, between 22 and 26 February and sanctioned by Badminton World Federation and Badminton Confederation of Africa. Nigeria and South Africa was the defending champion in men's and women's team events. This tournament serves as qualification stage for African countries for the 2012 Thomas & Uber Cup.

The 2013 African Badminton Championships or African Badminton Cup of Nations was held in Rose Hill, Mauritius between 14-20 August and organised by the Badminton Confederation of Africa.

The 2011 African Badminton Championships is a continental badminton championships organized by the Badminton Confederation of Africa. This championships were held in Marrakesh, Morocco between 4-12 May.

Chongo Ezra Mulenga is a Zambian badminton player. In 2013, he won the men's singles title at the Ethiopia International tournament. In 2014, he placed third at the Uganda International in the mixed doubles event partnered with Ogar Siamupangila. Mulenga represented his country at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 2017 African Badminton Championships or All Africa Championships were held in Benoni, South Africa between 16–23 April, organised by the Badminton Confederation of Africa. At the team event, Egypt won the gold medal after beat South Africa with the score 3-1. Nigeria and Zambia settle for the bronze medal after reach the semi-final round.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Badminton South Africa</span>

Badminton South Africa is the national governing body that oversees and manages affairs related to the sport of badminton in South Africa. The body is affiliated to the BWF and Badminton Confederation of Africa. The association was founded in 1938, as the South African Badminton Union (SABU) and had a name change in 1998. It is made up of 14 provincial associations and 13 districts. Its teams compete at Sudirman Cup, World Championships, Thomas Cup and Uber Cup.

Dona Lekha Shehani Handunkuttihettige is a Sri Lankan badminton player. She started to playing badminton at the age of 8. In 2009, she began to participate in the national badminton tournament, and in 2013, she won her first national title. She competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. In 2014, she was the runner-up at the Uganda International tournament in the women's singles event. In 2016, she won the singles title at the Ivory Coast International, and in 2017, she won doubles title at the Ethiopia International in the women's singles and doubles event. Shehani was graduated from the Convent of Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Algeria national badminton team</span> National badminton team representing Algeria

The Algeria national badminton team represents Algeria in international badminton team competitions. The team made their first-ever appearance at the Thomas Cup in 2018. The Algerian team have never qualified for the Uber Cup and the Sudirman Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Botswana national badminton team</span> National badminton team representing Botswana

The Botswana national badminton team represents Botswana in international team competitions and is controlled by the Botswana Badminton Association in Gaborone, Botswana. The national team was formed after badminton was starting to be played in Motswana cities, Orapa, Selebi-Phikwe and Jwaneng.
