James Pierce Leavitt is an American football coach and former player. He served as the head coach at the University of South Florida from the football program's inception in 1997 until 2009, compiling a record of 95–57.
Louis Leo "Skip" Holtz Jr. is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League (UFL). Holtz has led the team to two USFL Championships, in 2022 and 2023, and a UFL Championship in 2024. Previously, he was the head coach for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, South Florida Bulls, East Carolina Pirates, and the Connecticut Huskies. He has also served as an assistant coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Colorado State Rams, and the Florida State Seminoles.
Carl Franks is a former American football coach and player. He most recently served as the running backs coach at Bethune–Cookman University. Franks served as the head football coach at Duke University from 1999 to 2003, compiling a record of 7–45. He played football at Duke where he was an Academic All-ACC selection.
The South Florida Bulls football team represents the University of South Florida (USF). The Bulls began playing in 1997 and compete in the American Athletic Conference of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The team plays its home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Starting in 2027, the Bulls will host home games at a new $340 million on-campus stadium.
The South Florida Bulls are the athletic teams that represent the University of South Florida. USF competes in NCAA Division I and is a member of the American Athletic Conference for all sports besides sailing, a non-NCAA sanctioned varsity sport which competes in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association within the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association. The current athletic director is Michael Kelly, who has held the job since 2018. The school colors are green and gold and the mascot is Rocky D. Bull.
The War on I-4 is a college rivalry between the University of Central Florida Knights and University of South Florida Bulls. The rivalry is best known for its college football matchup which originated in a series of football games played from 2005 to 2008 and now takes place on Thanksgiving weekend, the de facto "rivalry weekend" for FBS football. From 2013 to 2023, when both schools were part of the American Athletic Conference, the schools began competing annually in all sports both schools sponsored. In 2016, the schools officially adopted the "War on I-4" as an official competition series. Each year, the team with the most wins across all sports receives a gold trophy styled after an Interstate 4 (I-4) road sign with the logos of each school. The winner of the annual football game also receives a similar trophy.
The 2006 PapaJohns.com Bowl was the inaugural postseason college football match of the game, between the South Florida Bulls and the East Carolina Pirates at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The University of South Florida represented the Big East Conference and East Carolina University represented Conference USA. The game resulted in a 24–7 South Florida victory.

Their head coach was Jim Leavitt, and they played their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The 2009 season was the 13th season overall for the Bulls, and their fifth season in the Big East Conference. The Bulls finished the season 8–5 and won the International Bowl, 27–3, against Northern Illinois. The roster had 11 eventual NFL draft picks and a total of 14 players would go on to play in the NFL.

South Florida invited to the Meineke Car Care Bowl to face the Clemson Tigers. This was the sixth consecutive season that the Bulls had gone to a postseason bowl game. South Florida defeated Clemson, 31–26, securing a third straight bowl victory for the Bulls. Quarterback BJ Daniels was named the MVP of the game. The Bulls played home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

They are currently led by head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, who was hired after Brian Gregory was fired following the 2022–23 season. The Bulls play their home games at the 10,500 seat Yuengling Center on USF's campus in Tampa, Florida. USF has won two conference championships and has reached the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament 3 times in their history, with their best finish coming in 2012 when they made the round of 32.

This was the second season with Skip Holtz as the head coach. They finished the season 5–7, 1–6 in Big East play to finish in a tie for seventh place. USF failed to qualify for a post-season bowl ending its streak of six consecutive bowl trips dating back to 2005.

The Bulls currently compete in the American Athletic Conference within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). USF plays in Corbett Stadium, which opened in 2011 and is also used by the USF women's soccer team. Prior to that, they played at USF Soccer Field from their first season in 1965 until 1978 and USF Soccer Stadium from 1979 until 2010. They are coached by Bob Butehorn, who is in his sixth year with the Bulls as of the 2022 season.

This was the 42nd season of basketball for USF and its 8th season as a member of the Big East Conference. The team was coached by Stan Heath in his sixth year at the school. USF played its home games at the newly renovated USF Sun Dome. They finished the season 12–19, 3–15 in Big East play to finish in a tie for 13th place. They lost in the first round of the Big East tournament to Seton Hall.

They broke that record by only winning 2 games in 2013, finishing 2–10, 2–6 in American Athletic play to finish in eighth place.
Kayvon Webster is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at South Florida and was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft. He was also a member of the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins. He won Super Bowl 50 as a member of the Broncos.

The South Florida–UCF football rivalry, better known as the War on I-4, is an American college football rivalry between the South Florida Bulls football team of the University of South Florida and UCF Knights football team of the University of Central Florida. As of the 2022 meeting, the Knights hold a 8–6 lead in the series.
