James Pierce Leavitt is an American football coach and former player. He served as the head coach at the University of South Florida from the football program's inception in 1997 until 2009, compiling a record of 95–57.
Louis Leo "Skip" Holtz Jr. is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL). Previously, he was the head coach for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2013–2021), South Florida Bulls (2010–2012), East Carolina Pirates (2005–2009), and Connecticut Huskies (1994–1998). He has also served as an assistant coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks (1999–2004), Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1990–1993), Colorado State Rams (1989) and Florida State Seminoles (1987–1988).
Carl Franks is an American football coach and former player. He currently serves as the running backs coach at Bethune–Cookman University. Franks served as the head football coach at Duke University from 1999 to 2003, compiling a record of 7–45. He played football at Duke where he was an Academic All-ACC selection.
The South Florida Bulls football team represents the University of South Florida. The Bulls began playing in 1997 and compete in the American Athletic Conference of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The team plays its home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
The South Florida Bulls are the athletic teams that represent the University of South Florida. USF competes in NCAA Division I and is a member of the American Athletic Conference for all sports besides sailing, a non-NCAA sanctioned sport which competes in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association within the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association. The current athletic director is Michael Kelly, who has held the job since 2018. The school colors are green and gold and the mascot is Rocky D. Bull.
The War on I-4 is a college rivalry between the University of Central Florida Knights and University of South Florida Bulls. The rivalry is best known for its college football matchup which originated in a series of football games played from 2005 to 2008 and now takes place on Thanksgiving weekend, the de facto "rivalry weekend" for FBS football. In 2013, when UCF joined the American Athletic Conference, the schools began competing annually in all sports. In 2016, the schools officially adopted the "War on I-4" as an official competition series. Each year, the team with the most wins across all sports receives a gold trophy styled after an Interstate 4 (I-4) road sign with the logos of each school. The winner of the annual football game also receives a similar trophy.

Their head coach was Jim Leavitt, and they played their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The 2009 season was the 13th season overall for the Bulls, and their fifth season in the Big East Conference. The Bulls finished the season 8–5 and won the International Bowl, 27–3, against Northern Illinois. The roster had 11 eventual NFL draft picks and a total of 14 players would go on to play in the NFL.

USF has reached the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament 3 times in their history, with their best finish coming in 2012 when they made the round of 32.

This was the second season with Skip Holtz as the head coach. They finished the season 5–7, 1–6 in Big East play to finish in a tie for seventh place. USF failed to qualify for a post-season bowl ending its streak of six consecutive bowl trips dating back to 2005.

The Bulls currently compete in the American Athletic Conference within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). USF plays in Corbett Stadium, which opened in 2011 and is also used by the USF women's soccer team. Prior to that, they played at USF Soccer Field from their first season in 1965 until 1978 and USF Soccer Stadium from 1979 until 2010. They are coached by Bob Butehorn, who is in his sixth year with the Bulls as of the 2022 season.

The Bulls played their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The 2013 college football season was the 17th season overall for the Bulls, and their first season as a member of the American Athletic Conference. They were led by first year head coach Willie Taggart after USF fired Skip Holtz at the conclusion of the 2012 season. This season followed a season that saw the Bulls win their fewest games in program history (3). They broke that record by only winning 2 games in 2013, finishing 2–10, 2–6 in American Athletic play to finish in eighth place.
Kayvon Webster is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at South Florida and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans, and won Super Bowl 50 as a member of the Broncos.
