Cotai is a 5.2-square-kilometer (2.0 sq mi) piece of reclaimed land on the top of the Seac Pai Bay between Taipa and Coloane islands in Macau that has connected two independent islands since 2005. The name, which is a portmanteau of Coloane and Taipa, can also refer to the island formed by the reclamation. In the second sense, the Special Administrative Region of Macau now consists of the Macau Peninsula, plus Cotai Island, about a mile to the south.

Macau residents participate in a wide variety of sports for recreation and competition. Local leagues and competitions are organized regularly every year, but owing to Macau's small population professional leagues are financially unfeasible and so most participants are merely local sport enthusiasts.

Macau Forum is a venue connected to the adjacent Macao Polytechnic University Multisport Pavilion and Media Centre located at Avenida de Marciano Baptista, in Sé, Macau, China. Macao Forum used to be the largest indoor venue in Macau before the completion of the Macao East Asian Games Dome. It comprises two pavilions: The main pavilion has a capacity of up to 4,000 and offers a competition area of 45 metres by 25 metres with a ceiling height of 12 metres; The second pavilion can accommodate over 300 people with theatre-style-seating format and offers a performing area of 30 metres by 15 metres, which is suitable for different spectator sports and shows.

Described as a "mega-casino" by The Guardian, in 2020 City of Dreams was the third-largest casino in the world. In total the property comprises three separate casinos, four hotels, five hotel towers, around 2,270 total hotel rooms, around 30 restaurants and bars, and 175,000 square feet (16,300 m2) of retail space.

The family's history in the business spans four generations. The name "O'Che 1867" was originally "Ourivesaria Che Lee Yuen," whereas "Ourivesaria" is Portuguese for goldsmiths and "Che" is the romanized form of the family's Chinese surname.

Galaxy Macau is a casino resort located in Cotai, Macau. Construction on the Cotai project began in 2002. Its opening was rescheduled several times. Its developer, Galaxy Entertainment Group, announced on 10 March 2011 that the HKD 14.9 billion resort would officially open on 15 May 2011. The resort was designed by Gary Goddard. Currently consists of seven different luxury resort hotels, each with its own theme: Galaxy Macau, Okura, Banyan Tree, JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Raffles and Andaz.

On August 5th, 2011, Sands China announced that the $4 billion property, long referred to as parcels five and six, would be officially named Sands Cotai Central. The first portion of the resort opened on April11th, 2012. The resort was rebranded as The Londoner Macao in 2021. The resort's redesign was completed in May 2023.
