The 2013 I Lyga (also known as LFF I Lyga) is the 24th season of the I Lyga, the second-tier association football league of Lithuania. The season started on 8 April 2013 and end is planned for 24 September 2013. [1]
The I Lyga, LFF I Lyga, Pirma Lyga, is the second level of professional Lithuanian football championship.
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players. It is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries and dependencies, making it the world's most popular sport. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by moving the ball beyond the goal line into the opposing goal.
Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania, is a country in the Baltic region of Europe. Lithuania is considered to be one of the Baltic states. The country is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, to the east of Sweden and Denmark. It is bordered by Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Kaliningrad Oblast to the southwest. The official language, Lithuanian, is one of only two living languages in the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family, the other being Latvian.
The league changed its number of teams, increasing it from 10 teams in 2012 I Lyga to 12 teams in 2013. Two teams of 2012 resigned – FK Granitas Vilnius and NFA Kaunas (replaced by FM Spyris Kaunas), and another two were relegated – FK Venta Kuršėnai and FK Kėdainiai. From LFF II lyga were admitted 5 teams – 3 from zone South (FK Žalgiris-3 Vilnius, FK Šilas Kazlų Rūda and FM Spyris Kaunas) and 2 from zone West (FK Lokomotyvas Radviliškis and FK Klaipėdos Granitas). A newly created team of FK Baltija Panevėžys was also allowed to start at I lyga in 2013.
FK Šilas is a Lithuanian football club from the city of Kazlų Rūda. The team competes in the II Lyga Southern zone, in third tier of Lithuanian football.
FK Lokomotyvas Radviliškis was a Lithuanian football team. The team played in the Lithuanian Football Cup and I Lyga.
FK Klaipėdos Granitas was a Lithuanian football club from Klaipėda.

Futbolo klubas Žalgiris, commonly known as FK Žalgiris, Žalgiris Vilnius or simply Žalgiris is a Lithuanian professional football club based in Vilnius. The club competes in the A Lyga, the top flight of Lithuanian football. The club was founded as Dinamo in 1947. The club's name commemorates the victorious Battle of Žalgiris. Žalgiris has featured many Lithuanian football legends during their history, including Arminas Narbekovas, Valdas Ivanauskas, Edgaras Jankauskas and Deividas Šemberas. They have won the Lithuanian Championship 7 times, the Lithuanian Football Cup 12 times and the Lithuanian Supercup 6 times.
The A Lyga is the top division of professional football in Lithuania. It is organized by Lithuanian Football Federation LFF. The league size has varied between 8 and 12 teams; as of 2016 season, the league features 8 teams. The final list of participants sometimes does not correlate to the final results of the previous season, as the participation is finalized through the Lithuanian Football Federation league licensing process. The season usually kicks off in late February or early March and ends in November. Because of the harsh climate there are no games in the winter.
The 2011 A Lyga was the 22nd season of the A Lyga, the top-tier football league of Lithuania. The season began on 12 March 2011 and ended on 6 November 2011. Ekranas were the defending champions, having won their third consecutive title at the end of the 2010 season.

The club stopped functioning mid-season in 2019 after the owner pulled out the funds. The club played its home matches at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium and used the NFA stadium in Kaunas as an alternative.
