The 2013 Mahabubnagar bus accident occurred on 30 October when a private Volvo bus on the way from Bangalore to Hyderabad caught fire after hitting a culvert while overtaking a car, killing 45 people and injuring another seven. [1] [2] [3] The accident took place at Palem village, Mahbubnagar district, then in Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (but after 2 June 2014 in Telangana) at 5.30 AM. [4] [5] [6]

Accident

The bus, which belonged to a local tour operator Jabbar Travels left Bangalore at 11 pm on 29 October, with 49 passengers on board. [7] The accident happened when the bus driver tried to overtake a car but hit a culvert and damaged its diesel tank in the process leading to the fire. However the bus driver, cleaner and five other passengers managed to escape the bus.

The Penukonda train collision occurred in the early hours of 22 May 2012, when the Bangalore bound Hampi Express crashed into a stationary freight train near Penukonda, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The incident killed 25 people while 43 people were injured. Three coaches derailed as a result of the crash while another caught fire. The fire was brought under control and rescue and relief operations started in a couple of hours. Railway Minister Mukul Roy, who was in Kolkata, rushed to the site of the accident and ordered an inquiry into it. Early reports suggested that Hampi Express overshot a signal and collided with a stationary goods train. Roy also announced a compensation of Rs 500,000 to the next of kin of the deceased, Rs 100,000 for those who sustained grievous injuries and Rs 50,000 to those who received minor injuries.

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation is a state-owned corporation that runs bus transport services to and from the Indian state of Telangana. The 2015 Karachi traffic accident occurred on 10 January 2015, when a passenger bus in transit from Karachi to Shikarpur crashed into an oil tanker killing up to 62 people including 6 children. The bus was carrying up to 80 people, with 62 inside the bus and 10 on top, due to overcrowding. Traveling in the morning, most of the passengers were asleep when the bus crashed.

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is in charge of the civic administration and infrastructure of the city of Vijayawada. The corporation was formed in 1981 by upgrading from municipality status. Many other neighbourhoods were later merged into the corporation limits to a total area of 61.88 km2 (23.89 sq mi), located in Krishna district. The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission monitors the municipal elections that are held in the city once in every five years. The last elections were held on 10 March 2021.

On 1 July 2023, a private bus travelling on Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra's Buldhana district in India caught fire. 25 people died, and eight others were injured, in the accident.

On 29 October 2023, two passenger trains collided in southern India's Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh state killing at least 14 people and leaving about 50 others injured. Three carriages of a stationary passenger train were derailed after it was hit by another train.
