The 2014 season for the RusVelo cycling team began in February at the Volta ao Algarve. The team participated in UCI Continental Circuits and UCI World Tour events when given a wildcard invitation.

Alexander Sergeyevich Serov is a Russian former road and track racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2001 and 2017 for the Itera, Lokomotiv, Tinkoff Credit Systems, Team Katusha and Gazprom–RusVelo teams.
Vacansoleil–DCM Pro Cycling Team was a Dutch professional road race cycling team. They were a UCI ProTeam and competed in the UCI World Tour. The team was established in 2005, as the successor of P3 Transfer-Batavus, while also taking over many of the riders and staff of Cycle Collstrop, the former team of manager Van der Schueren. Neither Vacansoleil or DCM renewed their sponsorship of the program after the 2013 season.

Gazprom–RusVelo, a part of the Russian Global Cycling Project and sponsored by Gazprom, is a Russian road and track cycling team that suspended its activities in 2022. It was founded in late 2011 and granted UCI Professional Continental status. For its first season 2012 the team signed several ex-Team Katusha riders along with a few ones from Continental Team Itera–Katusha.
Itera–Katusha was one of four teams of the Russian Global Cycling Project, which consisted of Team Katusha, U23 Itera–Katusha, U21 Itera–Katusha and the aforementioned UCI Continental team.

The 2015 Tour d'Azerbaïdjan was a five-day cycling stage race that took place in Azerbaijan in May 2015, as the fourth edition of the Tour d'Azerbaïdjan. It was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour. The race included five stages, starting in Baku on 6 May and returning there for the finish on 10 May. The 2014 champion was Ilnur Zakarin, but he was not present to defend his title.
