Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island country and city-state in maritime Southeast Asia. It is located about one degree of latitude north of the equator, off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, bordering the Strait of Malacca to the west, the Singapore Strait to the south, the South China Sea to the east, and the Straits of Johor to the north. The country's territory comprises one main island, 63 satellite islands and islets, and one outlying islet; the combined area of these has increased by 25% since the country's independence as a result of extensive land reclamation projects. Multi-racialism is enshrined in the constitution and continues to shape national policies in education, housing, and politics.

Singapore's economy has been previously ranked as the most open in the world, the joint 4th-least corrupt, and the most pro-business. Lee Kuan Yew, born Harry Lee Kuan Yew, often referred to by his initials LKY, was a Singaporean barrister and statesman who served as the first prime minister of Singapore between 1959 and 1990, and the secretary-general of the People's Action Party between 1954 and 1992. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tanjong Pagar from 1955 until his death in 2015. Lee has been widely recognised as the founding father of Singapore for his leadership in turning an undeveloped country into a developed country, and from an island of mudflats and swamps into a thriving metropolis.
Lee Hsien Loong is a Singaporean statesman and former brigadier-general who has been serving as Prime Minister of Singapore and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party since 2004. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Teck Ghee division of Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1991, and previously Teck Ghee SMC between 1984 and 1991.

The Bishan–Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) is a four-member Group Representation Constituency located in the central region of Singapore. The GRC consists the entire areas of Bishan, Singapore, the majority of Toa Payoh, parts of Thomson, Singapore. There are four divisions of the GRC: Bishan East, Toa Payoh West, Toa Payoh East and Toa Payoh Central. The current Member of Parliament (MP) are Ng Eng Hen, Saktiandi Supaat, Chong Kee Hiong and Chee Hong Tat from the People's Action Party (PAP).
The Jurong Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency located in the western area of Singapore. The GRC consists of a large section of Jurong, sections of Bukit Batok and areas near Upper Bukit Timah Road. The five divisions of the GRC: Bukit Batok East, Jurong Central, Taman Jurong, Jurong Spring and Clementi. The current MPs are Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Tan Wu Meng, Rahayu Mahzam, Shawn Huang and Xie Yao Quan from the People's Action Party (PAP).

The Singapore Chess Championship is the annual individual national chess championship of Singapore organised by the Singapore Chess Federation. The event also features a Challengers section, which is a FIDE-rated tournament for amateur chess players. In 2015, the Challengers section was named "Singapore Amateur Chess Championship".

Lawrence Wong Shyun Tsai is a Singaporean politician, economist and former civil servant. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been serving as Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore since 2022 and Minister for Finance since 2021. He is also the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Limbang division of Marsiling–Yew Tee GRC since 2015.
The 2015 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 28th Southeast Asian Games, or the 28th SEA Games, and commonly known as Singapore 2015, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held by the city-state of Singapore from 5 to 16 June 2015, It was the fourth time the country hosted the games. Singapore had previously also hosted the games in 1973, 1983 and the 1993 editions.
General elections were held in Singapore on Friday, 11 September 2015 to elect 89 members of Parliament. The outgoing Parliament had been dissolved and the general election called by President Tony Tan on 25 August, on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The elections were for the 13th Parliament since independence in 1965, using the first-past-the-post electoral system.
Bukit Batok Single Member Constituency (SMC) is a single member constituency in Bukit Batok of Singapore. It used to exist from 1972 to 1988 as Bukit Batok Constituency and was renamed as Bukit Batok Single Member Constituency (SMC) as part of Singapore's political reforms. The current Member of Parliament for the constituency is People's Action Party (PAP) Murali Pillai.
