Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island country and city-state in Southeast Asia. The country's territory comprises one main island, 63 satellite islands and islets, and one outlying islet. It is about one degree of latitude north of the equator, off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, bordering the Strait of Malacca to the west, the Singapore Strait to the south along with the Riau Islands in Indonesia, the South China Sea to the east, and the Straits of Johor along with the State of Johor in Malaysia to the north.

Lee Kuan Yew, often referred to by his initials LKY, was a Singaporean statesman and lawyer who served as the Minister Mentor between 2004 to 2011, Senior Minister between 1990 to 2004 and first prime minister of Singapore from 1959 to 1990. He served as the secretary-general of the People's Action Party (PAP) from 1954 to 1992 and was the member of Parliament (MP) for Tanjong Pagar from 1955 until his death in 2015. Lee is widely recognised as the founding father of the modern Singaporean state, and for his leadership in transforming it into a highly developed country during his tenure.
Lee Hsien Loong is a Singaporean politician and former brigadier-general who has been a senior minister of Singapore since 2024, having previously served as the third prime minister of Singapore from 2004 to 2024. He was served as the secretary-general of the People's Action Party (PAP) since 2004 to 2024 and has been the member of Parliament (MP) for the Teck Ghee division of Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1991, and previously Teck Ghee SMC from 1984 and 1991.
The fall of Singapore, also known as the Battle of Singapore, took place in the South–East Asian theatre of the Pacific War. The Japanese Empire captured the British stronghold of Singapore, with fighting lasting from 8 to 15 February 1942. Singapore was the foremost British military base and economic port in South–East Asia and had been of great importance to British interwar defence strategy. The capture of Singapore resulted in the largest British surrender in history.

There are currently two types of elections in Singapore. Parliamentary and presidential elections. According to the Constitution of Singapore, general elections for Parliament must be conducted within three months of the dissolution of Parliament, which has a maximum term of five years from the first sitting of Parliament, and presidential elections are conducted every six years.

The Bishan–Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) is a four-member Group Representation Constituency located in the central region of Singapore. The GRC consists the entire areas of Bishan, Singapore, the majority of Toa Payoh, parts of Thomson, Singapore managed by Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council. There are four divisions of the GRC: Bishan East, Toa Payoh West, Toa Payoh East and Toa Payoh Central. The current Member of Parliament (MP) are Chong Kee Hiong, Chee Hong Tat, Ng Eng Hen and Saktiandi Supaat, from the People's Action Party (PAP).
The Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in Central and Western Singapore. The five divisions consists: Buona Vista, Queenstown, Moulmein-Cairnhill, Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru and Henderson-Dawson managed by Tanjong Pagar Town Council. The current Members of Parliament are Chan Chun Sing, Joan Pereira, Alvin Tan, Eric Chua and Indranee Rajah from the People's Action Party (PAP).
The West Coast Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) located in the western as well as the central area of Singapore. The five divisions consists: Ayer Rajah-Gek Poh, West Coast, Boon Lay, Nanyang and Telok Blangah managed by West Coast Town Council. West Coast GRC covers the areas of Ayer Rajah, Dover, Pasir Panjang, the south-western area, West Coast, Jurong, Jurong Island, Sentosa, Telok Blangah, Tuas and much of Singapore's southern & western territorial waters and offshore islands in the area. The current Members of Parliament for the constituency are Foo Mee Har, Desmond Lee, Ang Wei Neng and Rachel Ong from the People's Action Party (PAP) after the resignation of S. Iswaran.
The Singapore Chess Championship is the annual individual national chess championship of Singapore organised by the Singapore Chess Federation. The event also features a Challengers section, which is a FIDE-rated tournament for amateur chess players. In 2015, the Challengers section was named "Singapore Amateur Chess Championship".

Lawrence Wong Shyun Tsai is a Singaporean politician, economist and former civil servant who has been serving as the fourth prime minister of Singapore since 2024 and the Minister for Finance since 2021. A member of the governing People's Action Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Limbang division of Marsiling–Yew Tee GRC since 2015, and previously the Boon Lay division of West Coast GRC between 2011 and 2015.
The 2015 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 28th Southeast Asian Games, or the 28th SEA Games, and commonly known as Singapore 2015, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held by the city-state of Singapore from 5 to 16 June 2015, It was the fourth time the country hosted the games. Singapore had previously also hosted the games in 1973, 1983 and the 1993 editions.
General elections were held in Singapore on Friday, 11 September 2015 to elect 89 members of Parliament. The outgoing Parliament had been dissolved and the general election called by President Tony Tan on 25 August, on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The elections were for the 13th Parliament since independence in 1965, using the first-past-the-post electoral system.
Bukit Batok Single Member Constituency (SMC) is a single member constituency in Bukit Batok of Singapore. It used to exist from 1972 to 1988 as Bukit Batok Constituency and was renamed as Bukit Batok Single Member Constituency (SMC) as part of Singapore's political reforms. The current Member of Parliament for the constituency is People's Action Party (PAP) Murali Pillai.
