The 2015 Rio Open was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 2nd edition of the tournament, and part of the 2015 ATP World Tour and the 2015 WTA Tour. It took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between 16 February and 22 February 2015.
Eugenie Bouchard was the defending champion, but chose not to participate this year.
Simona Halep was the defending champion, but chose not to participate this year.
Andrea Petkovic was the defending champion, but she chose not to participate this year.
Samantha Stosur won the title, defeating Karin Knapp in the final, 3–6, 7–6(7–3), 6–2.
Defending champion Serena Williams defeated Simona Halep in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–5) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2015 Cincinnati Masters.
Elina Svitolina was the defending champion, but chose not to participate this year.

Johanna Konta defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 Miami Open.
Caroline Garcia was the defending champion, but lost in the semifinals to Anastasija Sevastova in a rematch of the previous year's final.
Garbiñe Muguruza defeated Simona Halep in the final, 6–1, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 Cincinnati Masters. By losing in the final, Halep failed to take advantage of her third opportunity in 2017 to take over the WTA No. 1 singles ranking when the top ranking was only one match win away.
Caroline Garcia defeated Simona Halep in the final, 6–4, 7–6(7–3) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 China Open. As of 2019, Garcia is the only player to win singles titles in both Wuhan and Beijing in the same year.
Francesca Schiavone was the defending champion, but withdrew before the tournament began.
Petra Kvitová defeated Kiki Bertens in the final, 7–6(8–6), 4–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2018 Madrid Open. It was Kvitová's third Madrid Open title, and she became the first player to win three women's singles titles at the Madrid Open.

Caroline Garcia defeated Ana Bogdan in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 WTA Poland Open.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Madrid Open. It was her fifth WTA 1000 title. This marked the first time since 2013 that the top two seeds contested the Madrid Open final. It was also the first time since 2000 that the top two players on the WTA Tour contested back-to-back finals, after Świątek won in Stuttgart the week prior.
