The men's event was held at the Uniprix Stadium in Montreal, from August 10 to August 16, and the women's event at the Aviva Centre in Toronto, from August 10 to August 16.

Ashleigh Barty defeated the defending champion Elina Svitolina in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2019 WTA Finals. With the win, Barty became the fifth woman to win the tournament on her first attempt. Barty was also the third player to win both the WTA Finals and the WTA Elite Trophy after Venus Williams and Petra Kvitová.
