The 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament will be held from May 25-29. The top six regular season finishers will meet in the double-elimination tournament, to be held at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tennessee. The tournament champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament [2] [3] Among current members, Austin Peay has won the most championships, with six, while Belmont (joined in 2012), SIU Edwardsville (joined in 2008),and Tennessee–Martin (joined in 1992) have never won championships. The Tournament began in 1979.
The top six regular season finishers will be seeded by conference winning percentage. Teams will then play a double-elimination tournament, with the top two seeds receiving a single bye. Austin Peay vacated four wins from the season, making their record 17–9 for conference purposes, and dropping them to the third seed. [4]

The Murray State Racers are the athletic teams that represent Murray State University (MSU), located in Murray, Kentucky, United States, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) since the 2022–23 academic year. The Racers previously competed in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) from 1948–49 to 2021–22; and in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 1933–34 to 1947–48.
The 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament took place from May 23–27. The top six regular season finishers met in the double-elimination tournament, which was held at Pringles Park. The Ohio Valley Conference has ten teams, but SIU Edwardsville was not eligible for postseason play. Austin Peay won their fifth Ohio Valley Championship by a score of 3-0 and earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

Gary McClure is a former American college baseball coach, formerly serving as head coach of the Austin Peay Governors baseball program. He was named to that position prior to the 1988 season. With 847 wins, McClure is the winningest coach in Austin Peay baseball history, as well as the winningest coach in Ohio Valley Conference baseball history.

The 2016 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 2–5 at Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Austin Peay, the #8 seed, won the tournament and earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Due to the locale of the tournament, it was dubbed as Music City Madness.
The 2016–17 Austin Peay Governors basketball team represented Austin Peay State University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Governors, led by 27th-year head coach Dave Loos, played their home games at the Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tennessee and were members of the West Division of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 11–19, 7–9 in OVC play to finish in fourth place in the West Division. They failed to qualify for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
The 2016 Ohio Valley Conference women's soccer tournament is the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Ohio Valley Conference to be held from October 30 to November 6, 2016. The five match tournament will be held at campus sites, with the semifinals and final held at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky. The six team single-elimination tournament will consist of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Murray State Racers are the defending tournament champions after defeating the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks in overtime in the championship match.

The 2017–18 SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's basketball team represented Southern Illinois University Edwardsville during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars, led by third year head coach Jon Harris, played their home games at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 9–21, 5–13 in OVC play to finish in a three-way tie for ninth place. Due to Southeast Missouri State being ineligible for postseason play due to APR violations, the Cougars received the No. 8 seed in the OVC Tournament where they lost in the first round to Tennessee Tech.
The 2017–18 Belmont Bruins men's basketball team represented Belmont University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bruins, led by 32nd-year head coach Rick Byrd, played their home games at the Curb Event Center in Nashville, Tennessee as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 24–9, 15–3 in OVC play to finish in second place. They defeated Austin Peay in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament to advance to the championship game where they lost to Murray State. Despite having 24 wins, they did not participate in a postseason tournament.

The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of four rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The SIU Edwardsville Cougars were the defending champions, but they were eliminated from the 2017 tournament with a 2–1 quarterfinal loss to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The Murray State Racers won the tournament with a 1–0 overtime win over Eastern Kentucky in the final. The conference tournament title was the third for the Murray State women's soccer program and the second for head coach Jeremy Groves.
