The 2016 Rostelecom Cup was the third event of six in the 2016–17 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Megasport Arena in Moscow on November 4–5. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2016–17 Grand Prix Final.
The 2016–17 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating was a series of invitational senior internationals which ran from October through December 2016. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the Grand Prix Final in Marseille.

The Rostelecom Cup, formerly the Cup of Russia, is an international, senior-level figure skating competition held as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series since 1996. Organized by the Figure Skating Federation of Russia, it has been held in both Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
