On 28 February 2016, Hasnain Warekar fatally stabbed 14 members of his family before taking his own life. The murders took place in the Indian city of Thane. [1] [2] [3] The victims were his parents, wife, two daughters, three of his four sisters, four nephews and two nieces. [4] According to the police, there were multiple motives including: substantial financial debt, sexual abuse of a sibling, and his own psychological distress. [5] At the time (2016), the killings were classified as the "worst-ever family homicide" in the country's history. [5]

The incident took place at 1:00 am in Thane district of Maharashtra. The murderer's name was given in different sources as Hasnel Anwar Warekar, [6] Husnail Varekar [1] and Asnain Anwar Warekar, aged 35. [1] Warekar sedated his victims by spiking a soft-drink he gave them, before slitting their throats with a large knife. [5] The victims were his parents, wife, two daughters, three of his four sisters, four nephews and two nieces. [5] After killing them, he hung himself. [5]

Warekar's motives were; financial debt, he had borrowed 6,700,000 Rs ($904,188 dollars) from family members, and lost it in the stock market; he had overheard a sibling he was sexually abusing telling his surviving sister of the abuse, and he was being treated for a psychological issue. [5]

A 21-year-old sister of his survived and was taken to a hospital. [6]

The 2014 Montgomery County shootings were a killing spree that occurred in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States, on December 15, 2014. The killings began at about 3:30 a.m. A woman was found dead in Lower Salford Township, two others were found dead in Lansdale, and three more were found in Souderton along with a wounded teenage boy. Police identified the suspected killer as 35-year-old Bradley William Stone of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, and the victims were his ex-wife and her family members. Most of the victims were shot, although some were also stabbed with a knife. After an extensive manhunt, Stone was found dead on the day after the killings in the woods near his home. He reportedly committed suicide by overdosing on several drugs.

The Broken Arrow killings took place on July 22, 2015, when five members of the Bever family were murdered in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, United States.

On 3 August 2016, a mass stabbing occurred in Russell Square, London. Six people were stabbed, one fatally, before a suspect, identified as Zakaria Bulhan, was apprehended by police and charged with murder and attempted murder. The media initially linked the stabbing to terrorism, but later shifted its focus to possible mental disorders.

Pavel Voitov, Elena Lobacheva, Artur "Narcis" Narcissov, Maxim "Zakirka" Pavlov and Vladislav "Persik" Karataev were a gang of Russian serial killers and neo-Nazis. Between 2014 and 2015, they killed more than 15 people in Moscow, the Moscow Oblast and the Yaroslavl Oblast. Their victims of choice were mainly homeless and alcoholics. Many attacks were filmed and posted on the darknet and on the VK page "OBO16". They called themselves Sanitater-88 or "The Cleaners".
