The 2017 Monterrey Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the ninth edition of the Monterrey Open and an International tournament on the 2017 WTA Tour. It took place at the Club Sonoma in Monterrey, Mexico, from 3 April until 9 April, 2017. Second-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won the singles title.

Irina Falconi was the defending champion, but lost in the first round to Dalila Jakupović.

Caroline Garcia was the defending champion, but lost in the semifinals to Anastasija Sevastova in a rematch of the previous year's final.

Kiki Bertens was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Kirsten Flipkens.

Ashleigh Barty defeated Jil Teichmann in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters. Barty did not drop a set en route to her first Cincinnati Masters title. It was her fifth and last title of the season, her third WTA 1000 title, and her 13th career WTA Tour singles title.

Paula Badosa defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 7–6(7–5), 2–6, 7–6(7–2) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters. At three hours and four minutes, the final was the longest-ever Indian Wells women's final. Badosa became the first Spanish woman to win the title. This was her first WTA 1000 title and second career WTA Tour singles title. Azarenka was aiming to become the first woman to win the title three times.

Sara Errani was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
