Ivan Ljubičić defeated Andy Roddick in the final 7–6(7–3), 7–6(7–5), to win the men's singles title at the 2010 Indian Wells Masters. It was his first ATP Masters 1000 title, making him the oldest first-time champion of a Masters title. It was his record fifth title at the Cincinnati Masters, and the first occasion that a player won an ATP Masters 1000 event without having serve broken or losing a set. Federer would repeat this accomplishment at the 2015 event. It was Djokovic's fourth runner-up finish at the Cincinnati Masters.

He won the title without losing a set or having his serve broken, the second time he did so in Cincinnati, following his win in 2012. It marked the first time Federer defeated the world No. 1 and No. 2 players in consecutive matches en route to a title. It was Djokovic's fifth runners-up finish without winning the title.
