2017 World Women's Handball Championship – European qualification

The European qualification for the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship in Germany was played over two rounds. The 2017 hosts Germany and the 2015 Champion Norway qualified automatically for the World Championship.

Contents

In the first round of qualification, the 15 teams who did not participate in the 2016 European Championship were split into four groups. The first and second placed teams from Groups 1–3 and the first placed team from Group 4 joined the eleven teams from the European Championship that did not qualify directly in a playoff to determine the nine teams that qualified for the 2017 World Championship.

Seeding

The draw was held on 24 June 2016. [1] [2] The first and second placed teams from Group 1–3 and the group winner of Group 4 advanced to the playoff round.

The 2018 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the 14th edition of the tournament, hosted for the second time in Croatia from 12 to 28 January 2018. Croatia was awarded hosting the tournament during the EHF congress in Dublin on 20 September 2014. This was the last edition to feature 16 teams, with the 2020 edition expanding to 24 teams and six preliminary groups format.

The qualification for the 2016 Men's Olympic Handball Tournament was held from January 2015 to April 2016. Twelve teams qualified, the hosts, the world champion, four continental event winners and six teams from the World Olympic qualification tournaments respectively.

The European qualification for the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship in France was disputed in two rounds among the teams that did not qualify for the 2016 European Men's Handball Championship and the 12 worst-ranked teams from the European Championship. The 2020 European Women's Handball Championship was held from 3 to 20 December 2020. The games were played in Herning and Kolding, Denmark.

The European qualification for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship, in Denmark and Germany, was contested in two rounds among the teams that did not qualify for the 2018 European Men's Handball Championship and the 12 teams that did play this tournament but was not already qualified and failed to qualify through it.

The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. The tournament had been advanced a month in order not to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 European Men's Handball Championship qualification</span> Qualification for the 2022 European Mens Handball Championship

The 2022 European Men's Handball Championship qualification was a handball competition organized by the European Handball Federation (EHF) to determine 20 of the 24 men's national teams competing in the 2022 European Men's Handball Championship final tournament. They joined the other four teams already qualified: Hungary and Slovakia, as final tournament co-hosts, and Spain and Croatia, who finished in the top two positions in the previous championship. Those four played in the EHF Euro Cup.

The European qualification for the 2019 World Women's Handball Championship, in Japan, was played over two rounds.

The 2020 Men's European Water Polo Championship was the 34th edition of the major European water polo tournament for national teams. It was held at the Danube Arena in Budapest, Hungary, from 14 to 26 January 2020.

The European qualification for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship, in Spain, was played over two rounds.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Women's Junior World Handball Championship</span>

The 2022 IHF Women's Junior World Championship was the 23rd edition of the IHF Women's Junior World Championship, held in Slovenia from 22 June to 3 July 2022 under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). For the first time, the championship was organised by the Handball Federation of Slovenia. The number of teams increased from 24 to 32.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2024 European Men's Handball Championship qualification</span> Qualification for the 2024 European Mens Handball Championship

This article describes the qualification process for the EHF EURO 2024 and EHF Euro Cup. In total 32 teams competed for 20 places at the final tournament, while 4 teams contested the EHF Euro Cup.

The European qualification for the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship determined nine European contestants at the final tournament, which joined six already qualified teams: Sweden and Poland, as co-hosts, Denmark, as title holder, and three best ranked teams at 2022 European Men's Handball Championship excluding Sweden, Poland and Denmark.
