Roger Federer was the defending champion, but was forced to withdraw from the tournament before the semifinals because of a back injury. Following Federer's withdrawal, Stefan Edberg and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga played a one set exhibition match to make up the evening session.

Jack Sock defeated Filip Krajinović in the final, 5–7, 6–4, 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2017 Paris Masters. It was Sock's first Masters 1000 singles title, and he became the first American to win a Masters 1000 singles title since Andy Roddick in 2010. For the first time since 2004, more than three of the year's Masters 1000 singles events were won by players outside the Big Four. The win also catapulted Sock from No. 24 in the Race to London to No. 9, which earned him entry to the 2017 ATP Finals. Sock also entered the top 10 for the first time in his career.
The 2018 ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It took place at the Rotterdam Ahoy arena in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, between 12 and 18 February 2018. It was the 45th edition of the tournament, and part of the ATP World Tour 500 series of the 2018 ATP World Tour. The tournament also includes a Men's Wheelchair Tennis Singles and Doubles draw. The wheelchair tennis event was an ITF-1 level tournament, with a total of $32,000 prize money.
Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2018 Cincinnati Masters. With the win, he became the first player to complete the career Golden Masters in singles.
