Matwé Middelkoop is a Dutch professional tennis player who specialises in doubles. He has won 14 doubles titles on the ATP Tour, most notably the 2022 Rotterdam Open alongside Robin Haase, and reached a career high doubles ranking of world No. 18 on 6 February 2023.
Mate Pavić and Michael Venus were the defending champions, but Venus chose to compete in Delray Beach instead. Pavić played alongside Alexander Peya, but lost in the quarterfinals to Robin Haase and Dominic Inglot.
Simone Bolelli and Andreas Seppi were the defending champions, but Bolelli chose to compete in São Paulo instead. Seppi played alongside Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the qualifying tournament, but lost in the qualifying competition to James Cerretani and Philipp Oswald.

With his maiden major title, Arévalo became the first men's doubles major champion from Central America, and at 40 years of age, Rojer became the oldest men's doubles major champion in the Open Era with his third major men's doubles title.

Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliövaara defeated Jamie Murray and Michael Venus in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–3) to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2023 Adelaide International 1.
Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler defeated Hugo Nys and Jan Zieliński in the final, 6–4, 7–6(7–4) to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2023 Australian Open. Awarded a wildcard into the tournament, Hijikata and Kubler saved a match point en route to the title, in their third round match against Tomislav Brkić and Gonzalo Escobar. Nys became the first ever Monegasque player to reach the semifinal and final of a major.

Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek defeated Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2023 French Open. It was Dodig's third major men's doubles title and Krajicek's first, and their first major title as a team.
Two-time defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury defeated Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden in the final, 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2023 US Open. They became the first team to win three consecutive US Open titles in the Open Era.
