The 2018 season of the Telangana T20 League, also known as Venkataswamy T20 tournament, was the first edition of the TTL, a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Telangana, India. The league was formed by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HYCA) in 2017. [2] After Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Telangana became third state in South India to launch its state T20 league with an initiative to provide major boost to rural cricketers who lag behind dur to lack of proper infrastructure and coaching facilities. The owners of the teams competing in the league are announced on 13 January 2018 by HYCA who have been selected on a first-come-first-serve basis after submitting an Expression of Interest and paying Rs 12.5 lakh each to HYCA for one-year contract. [3] The team colours and logos were launched on 2 February 2018 with the inaugural match being held on 3 February at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad [4] [5]

Adilabad Tigers won the inaugural tournament beating Medak Mavericks by 9 runs and Hitesh Yadav was adjudged as the man of the match for the Final. [6] [7]

Deccan Chargers is a defunct IPL franchise which was based in the city of Hyderabad. The franchise was one of the eight inaugural members of the IPL in 2008 and winner of 2009. It was owned by Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd. After finishing at the bottom of the points table in the first season, they won the second season held in South Africa in 2009 under the captaincy of former Australian wicket-keeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist was the captain of the team for the first three seasons of the IPL with Rohit Sharma as his deputy. From the fourth season, Kumar Sangakkara led the team and Cameron White played as his deputy. The team was coached by former Australian cricketer Darren Lehmann.

Ibrahim Khaleel is an Indian cricketer who played as a wicket-keeper for Hyderabad and former captain of the United States national cricket team. A right-handed batsman, Khaleel made his first-class debut in 2002. In 2007, he opted to participate in the now defunct Indian Cricket League, competing for the Hyderabad Heroes. He returned to authorised cricket in 2009, returning to play for Hyderabad. In a 2011 Ranji Trophy match against Assam, he set a record for the most dismissals in a first-class match by a wicket-keeper; taking 14 in total.

Kande Arachchige Isuru Udana Tillakaratna is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who represented Sri Lanka internationally in limited over formats. He currently plays domestic cricket for Tamil Union and Wayamba. Primarily a left arm fast bowler, Udana evolved as an all-rounder in late 2018. On 31 July 2021, Udana announced his retirement from international cricket.

Henry Davids is a South African cricketer. A right-handed batsman and a useful right-arm medium-fast bowler, Davids started his career with the Boland cricket team and then moved to the Nashua Cape Cobras. He performed well in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 for the Cobras, finishing in the top-ten run-scorers in the competition with 137 runs at a strike-rate of 110.48.
