It was her second Australian Open title and fourth major singles title overall. With the win, Osaka extended her winning streak to 21 matches, dating back to the 2020 Cincinnati Open. She only lost one set during the tournament, to Garbiñe Muguruza in the fourth round; she also saved two match points in that match, making her the eighth woman to win the Australian Open after saving match points. Osaka became the first woman to win her fourth major singles title since Maria Sharapova in 2012, and the youngest since Justine Henin won the 2005 French Open. She also became the third player in the Open Era, after Monica Seles and Roger Federer, to win their first four major finals.
Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion from when the tournament was last held in 2019, and she successfully defended her title after Bianca Andreescu retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–3, 4–0. It was Świątek's first Miami Open title, her third consecutive WTA 1000 title, and her fourth WTA 1000-level title overall. Świątek became the first woman in history to win the first three WTA 1000 titles of the year in succession, the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win three consecutive WTA 1000 titles, and extended her win streak to 17 matches.
